5 /5 Nam Nguyen: Our family has visited this lovely rose garden, nestled in the corner of Sacramentos historic McKinley Park and neighborhood, many times over the past 27 years. The best time to visit is from late spring, around Mothers Day, through mid-summer. Its a gorgeous and romantic setting, perfect for taking photos and videos. With at least 50 kinds of roses in many different color variations, its a great place to relax by walking or simply sitting on a bench and reading a book.

5 /5 Steven Page: We were in Sacramento for a day and wanted to go for a walk so we went to the park. We were here on April 19 and the roses were in bloom big time. The rose garden is huge and they have an amazing variety of colors and sizes. The fragrance was quite intoxicating.

5 /5 Becky C: Wow! Such a pretty spot! Great location for photos to be taken or just if you want to stop and see all the different colors and smell the roses do that too! Also, If you can find parking along the side of the park grab it quick!

Kariforunia Jin: 03/2025 Visited on a somewhat cloudy Saturday. ~1.5 - 2 years after the parks groundbreaking. I came to see if the Cherry blossoms have finally been able to bloom. My expectations were quite low, given reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised. For the small parks size, theres a good amount of seating throughout the park. It was pretty clean, though I cant say much about the surrounding area along the adjacent bike path. It wasnt dirty, but it wasnt exactly clean either. I was able to see some trees with a few flowers blooming, which was pretty exciting, but theyre still a few years off. The trees need 5-7 years to reach a full, healthy bloom. So if youre going to visit for hanami, visit sometime in Spring 2028. Overall, the park as it stands now isnt amazing. The layout is nice for strolling through, but with the trees still in their infancy, theres not much to see. That said, I can see the potential. I hope the groundskeepers can maintain it so we can have our own Cherry Blossom viewing in Sacramento!

Arnold Zirbel: Although the park was very busy in the late afternoon when I was there, I managed to locate an available bench and sat with my small dog and enjoyed some quality "people watching". It was nice to watch parents playing with their children, laughing and running around. There were also several people playing basketball and volleyball.

Swanston Park - Sacramento

Ophelia Calvillo: They have kid friendly safe water splashing in the summer, tennis courts, barbeque areas, picnic tables, exercise areas, restrooms, and nicely updated sanded walking areas. It was well maintained during my last visit. (Prior post) I went early with my dog at 6 am to run. There was litter out of the trash and insufficient lighting to be around certain areas of the park. I like this park and wish others would clean up after themselves to make it a better and safe place for all to enjoy.

Roberta Peek: These life-size darts lining the street are so fun and simply fun to see. If in the area at least do a quick drive-by to check them out.

River Walk Park - West Sacramento

Victoria V.: Park is clean and safe during daytime with great views of the river and Old Sacramento Train Depot. Plenty of wildlife:birds of all sorts and occasionally seals will rest on the dock. Peaceful and serene atmosphere, what else one would want?

2017 Queen SoLisa: I dont do any kind of rides but this the only one I will go on. It Such a fun little ride and such a great view we ride every time we come here. Great experience for the family ( those who arent scared lol)

Heather Haight: Its a small little park with this pretty artist detail just on the edge of downtown in a residential area. Peaceful, beautiful with a small playground and lots of space to have a picnic, play or relax.

Sojourner Truth African Heritage Museum - Sacramento

amy meier: We did a tour at the Sojourner Truth African Heritage Museum with my college art class. They have guided tours guided by docents. Its like walking through pages of a history book. Very beautiful mural paintings created by African American artists adorn the walls. There are also small businesses inside the large building. you can find anything from gorgeous bold African printed handmade clothing to hairstylists to lawyers and an advocacy center. We made a donation of $12 but that couldve been a lowered price for the students. Check it out if you have time. I highly recommend it.
