Als Village Repair Shop - Santa Rosa Jason Finna: SEE EDIT BELOW: Problem not even fixed. Already paid for, all codes returned....
Our family had been going to the shop for years and had never had problems with the original owner...Brought in the car for a check engine light before getting it smogged. The mechanic Greg ensured us the only issues were deep in the engine, requiring us to take apart the intake manifold which would be hours of labor. I asked specifically if there was anything else it could be that wouldnt require all that work, and he assured us there wasnt anything else it could be. After a few days, he called back and said the issue was only a relay in the fusebox and now we owed $1,000 for the full job. This came as a shock because he initially ensured us the problem was deep in the engine bay. After hearing this, I checked with a couple different shops in the area and they both agreed that our mechanic should have tried the simpler less costly solution before ripping apart the engine. I called back Greg and he was extremely rude and aggressive to us because we were upset he didnt present this relay as a potential solution to the engine light, and now we were stuck with a really large bill. As a compromise we offered to meet in the middle and he agreed.
We love supporting local businesses and so instead of leaving a poor review, we wanted to discuss our experience with the owner because we were shocked at how he treated us as customers and we still felt we ended up overpaying a lot for unnecessary work. The phrase "you pissed me off" should never be said to a customer who was wronged. Turns out Greg is the new owner, so this review is really the only accountability there is.
EDIT: After a day of driving, the dashboard lights all returned, and the same codes remain so the shop actually didnt fix the problem. This shop doesnt know what theyre doing.
