5 /5 Taiya Hatchett aka McInnes: Very family friendly park! People also love to bring their dogs and seems to have doggy play dates. There is normally lots of fetch and kids running around, so it can feel pretty busy.

5 /5 Lindsay: This park is tiny but one of my favorite hidden gems. Its great for dogs, walking, frisbee, barbecues, gatherings, or personal solitude. There are small BBQs (about 5 throughout, Id guess) with trees to provide shade and there is a provided water fountain for both pups and people. The park is in a residential area, with homes direcrly across the street. Parking is rather limited, room for about 20 cars max, maybe? On my afternoon visits I usually see about 5 cars including my own. There is an elementary school on the immediate side, sharing grass with this park. On the school grounds they have basketball courts (2) There is a play structure (on rubber terf ), ball wall, state tag, soccer /baseball field. Ive seen dogs running in the field , kids playing basketball after school hours, Ive taken my niece and nephew to the swings on the weekends. There is a gas station within walking distance. This park also has a pet feed directly across the street. This park is closed at sundown and does not permit visitors at night. This park is directly attached to the trail. Has sturdy park benches and a really good view to watch the sunsets. (More so to enjoy the colors vs the "view" as it is on flat ground, but it really is stunning ). Oh, I should mention there are NO restrooms available at the park or school.

4 /5 Bryan Dooley: I walk my dog though here a couple of days a month. The park is clean and tucked away. Not fully enclosed as it is right next to two very minor car traffic streets. Seems like a good place for kids since there is no real traffic. Also right next to a school that has play equipment.

Castle Rock Regional Recreation Area - Walnut Creek

Thomas Joseph Perez: Had a great hike here. The hills are so green during spring. The trails can be very muddy after a rainy day so be prepared. A lot of the trails are easy and wide. Most of the park lacks any shade so bring a good amount of water during a hot day.

Shadelands Ranch Museum - Walnut Creek

Madeline Rose: Having our wedding at Shadelands Historical Ranch and Museum was amazing. The venue itself is gorgeous, with incredible colors from the emerald lawn and giant trees to the explosion of roses around the gazebo! Our wedding was in May and all the flowers were in bloom, it was like a page from a storybook with hummingbirds and butterflies out and about enjoying the day too. Our guests kept raving about how beautiful and picturesque it was. Christine and Jackie made it a very stress-free experience. We had a morning wedding with a group of about 80 guests, along with a buffet table, mobile barista, DJ and sound system, and plenty of room for our three photographers to easily maneuver to get their shots. (Will update later with some professional photos when those arrive!) The venue provides chairs and various sizes of tables all arranged to your liking, we requested that the lawn seating be set up for the ceremony and for the tables to be set up around the edge of the patio area and they had everything set up exactly how we envisioned, so all we had to do was come in and decorate. Event insurance is required, along with multiple contacts on hand. Contract and rates are very straightforward. While the magnificent trees cover a large portion of the grassy area, would recommend bringing your own canopies with weights if you plan to set up tables within the paved area. Overall a grand experience with the venue and welcoming staff.

Hillcrest Community Park - Concord

Lashanita Mitchell: Such a cute park for kids of all ages, I love that they have a designated area for smaller kids so safety is no problem. This park offers accessibility for all too with larger swings and plenty of areas for climbing, playing house and running about. My daughter especially loves the water misters during the warm months.

Old Borges Ranch - Walnut Creek

Sunny Wu: It was so cool seeing the farm animals and hearing the roosters! Note the bathroom is at the picnic area parking lot. It could be a bit chilly hear in the afternoon, so bring a jacket.

Red Oak Victory - Richmond

Pamela L: This ship was used as a cargo ship during WWII, Vietnam and Korean Wars. It was built in Richmond, CA and is now located at the same shipyard where it was built. There are guided (takes you to the engine room) and self-guided tours; both are educational. The ship is managed by the Richmond Museum of History and the loving caretakers are volunteers. There is a small gift shop and theatre. Their existence is based on donations, pancake breakfasts, movie/hall rentals, and gift shop. The ship is not suited to persons with limited mobility. You have to walk up this steep, shaky steel ladder to get on board. Once on board, you have to walk up narrow stairs to go up and down floors. The engine rooms ladder to go down was very steep. You couldnt see the rung of the next step. If you have a phobia, this is not for you. Just avoid the engine room. Aside from that, the ship was interesting and if you are a WWII history buff, this ship is worth seeing.

Mohita Traveler: This spot feels like a hidden gem for those seeking a peaceful retreat by the water. It features a small lagoon with geese, lush greenery, and a welcoming atmosphere for dogs. The picturesque scenery makes it perfect for a picnic or a relaxing evening stroll.

Leo Frias: Its dirty and the atmosphere wasnt great I felt I had to watch my back everywhere I went. Definitely wouldnt recommend staying for long periods of time. Really nice view though!
