Convoy Auto Repair - San Diego
Tyson Huynh: Edit 7/28/25: Just this past week I came down to SD again for vacation and was supposed to drive 7 hrs back home when I ran into an oil leak. Booked an appointment with Convoy Auto for Monday 7/28 and they were able to diagnose the issue and fix it within the day. Car ran smooth after and I made the 7 hr drive back home. Great shop, very professional and friendly. They repair your car fast and within reasonable price. Thank you once again, Joe and team. 2022: I had recently taken a trip to San Diego and my check engine light had turned on for my Toyota Sienna mid way through my trip. I found Convoy Auto near the place I was staying at and brought my car in for service. Sean and everyone at Convoy Auto were professional and friendly. Convoy Auto was able to diagnose the check engine light quickly and gave me a very reasonable quote. Very honest and trustworthy shop!
T P Auto Repair - San Diego
Leah Siobhan: Couldn’t recommend a mechanic more than this place! Moved down from LA and saw this place had great reviews and needed a few items done to my car. They were able to get my car in super fast and have the work completed in about 2 hours. Their pricing was great but most importantly their customer service made me feel like my concerns about my car were listened to and they didnt try to add on any unnecessary work. Having a mechanic that makes me feel like I’m not getting ripped off and my concerns are heard will be making me go back here for as long as I’m on SD!
DC Mobile Auto Repair - San Diego
Croix Fossum: I took my 2007 Honda Civic in with what I thought might have been an issue with the ignition switch and paid $456 to have the ignition switch repaired (double the cost of other shops). When I went to pick up the car I was told that my starter was failing and that I would have issues "soon". 2 days later the car would not start. I took it back in and the quote to fix the starter was another $718. At that point, I left and replaced the starter on my own with a friend for $180. When I questioned Danny about why the starter was not repaired the first time, I was told that I specifically asked to have the ignition switch repaired, which struck me as missing the big picture. A more thoughtful mechanic would have taken the time to diagnosis the actual problem, instead of making a quick buck. Reviews are positive but might be inflated because discounts are offered for favorable reviews. I think Danny probably gives established clients/friends better prices and is looking out for them. This wasnt my experience though. In the future I will be looking for a mechanic with superior diagnostic capabilities and more fair pricing. Danny seems to treat his employees well and compensates them fairly which I appreciate. Figure I would end on a positive note.
North Park Auto Repair - San Diego
Brent: Got a flat right outside this shop and asked if I could use their lot to change a tire and they put my spare on for me free of charge. Will definitely be going back for regular maintenance at this shop!
Johns Automotive Care - San Diego
Melissa Hocanson: I have a 1966 mustang that needed lots of work. It’s my daily driver now. It has been extremely challenging finding a mechanic that first would work on the car and second do a good job. Robert at John’s automotive was my first point of contact and he has been extremely professional, organized and detailed. I came in and explained what I needed and he scheduled a time that I could bring the car in - it wasn’t right away but I appreciated that he didn’t take the car until they were able to work on it. After I dropped off the car they sent me an email with photos and a checklist of things that were good and things that need work. I was very impressed I have been to a lot of mechanics and I have never received a report that detailed. Mike is the mechanic who has worked on my car and has explained in detail what was wrong, what he’s done and what I should expect. It’s challenging working on these old cars but Mike has the experience and expertise needed to get the job done. I love my car and I’m extremely grateful that I found John’s automotive otherwise I don’t think I’d be driving my car. I highly recommend this company. Robert and Mike are the best !!!
A STREET AUTO SERVICE - San Diego
Jarrod G: This shop was recommended to me by another mechanic. When one shop told us our vehicle needed a new motor, this shop said “no you don’t!” With a little patience they proved it, and were able to revive our truck’s motor making it purr like a kitten and run like new. Sometimes it just takes experience instead of somebody, throwing their hands in the air and saying I can’t do it. This is a place I will continue to refer people to, and bring cars to. I run a classic car business, and it’s always good to have valuable, trusted, honest service.
San Diego Auto Care Center - San Diego
O Key (Kyana): David and Oscar were amazing. Super educating and real about what was wrong. They got my car back fast just when they said it would be done. David was super honest about pricing and was reasonably priced compared to those commission shops feeding you BS.
TLC Auto Repair Inc. - San Diego
Eric Yang: Shady business practices. Was quoted $38 for a tire rotation and a free normal 5k interval inspection but then I get there and they say its $80. The receipt also said they would top of fluids which at the VERY least means they fill the washer fluid. I checked after and they did not. Scam.
Pacific Highway Auto Repair - San Diego
Justin Sinaguinan: If youre looking for good customer service and quality work, this is NOT the place. George committed to having the radiator replaced by Monday. When I came in Monday, the work hadnt even started, even after he stated they were having a slow week. George didnt apologize. He just told me to come back again in a day and he looked away at his computer. Once I picked up my car, I saw dings all over the "new" radiator fins, meaning they just shoved it in the car without taking any care. (dings ruin the cooling efficiency of the radiator). When I asked about it, the teenager at the front desk got emotional and started throwing a rant about how it is new. Essentially, if theyre having a bad day that morning, theyll take it out on you. Their quality of work and quality of service is substandard at best. Any other repair shop will do better, and will probably be cheaper. They not only charge labor, but they also make money on the parts they source. This is why they wont use any parts you provide.
QUALITY AUTO REPAIR - San Diego
Caroline Boucher: Great mechanic! Quality Auto went above and beyond to complete my repair on short notice. I shipped my car from Hawaii and picked it up from the port on a Friday. I could tell it needed repairs before driving cross country Monday. They got me in on Saturday and stayed open late to complete my diagnostic and repair. Fairly priced and great customer service. They walked me through what was wrong and didn’t charge me for anything I didn’t need. I wouldn’t take my car anywhere else if I lived in San Diego! Lucky I found them!
