06-2025 Hellyer County Park in Hight rate 15 location for tourist in San Jose, CA, USA (part 2)Viet Museum - San Jose 龔振勝: Very small museum maintained by a few dedicated number of people. I dont know how the guided tours are, but Id like to come back and hear how its done. Going around this museum by myself, I can say is its very cluttered. What that means is its a treasure trove of historical artifacts, but if someone isnt in-tune with any of the history, and there are no tour guides, its hard for outsiders to truly get deep with what the struggles were. As of right now, if no one is directly connected with this period of history, most of these things might look tacky. However, if they bring in a professional to help weave an overall story from start to finish, I think itll help when you walk alone. Lets say with all the uniform items that are there, they should consult with the donors who gave them as well as retired US service members who served during that time. Because they can give you an idea of why those uniforms were the way they were, and how the US put its influence on them, so anyone joining the military will know, "Oh this is what were fighting for." They had a section at the back with a bunch of DVDs, that I didnt know if they were offering for free, or if we had to pay and how much. But one of them, "The Last Days of SaiGon" was a really good documentary I watched together with my Mom, and she almost let some tiers come out at certain points. Overall though, I got a good sense of everything, and Im glad I came. I still think they could do a better job with having information on-site. Some of the QR codes didnt work immediately, because I had bad data connection, but Im sure Im not the only one.
Brigadoon Park - San Jose Andrew Archuletta: Millions of squirrels at times. But overall a dect park. The famous concrete slides are always a blast and fun for all ages. Well maybe not people in their 50s lol. Small playground area but doable.
Sierra Vista Open Space Preserve - San Jose Vignesh Bharadwaj: Its a great place to chill or hike, it has some amazing views, and the drive to the place (along Felter Road) is super fun. We were able to see horses, goats, cows and llamas along the way!
There are some great hiking trails around here where you can get a little bit closer to some animals. This place offers a view of the mountains on one side, the valley and the city of san jose on another side and finally the entire SF bay and the bridges connecting MTV and Fremont on the other side.
There might be ticks and snakes on some trails, please read the warning signs and before prepared before entering.
Portuguese Historical Museum - San Jose Andrew Ramos: This is the best museum experience I have ever had. I got a personal tour from Joe, and his knowledge is outstanding. I came here wanting to learn about Azorean and Portuguese immigrants. And I got way more than I expected!
Guadalupe Oak Grove Park - San Jose FireStartR ForU: Looking for a great place to take the road less traveled? Try this park, it is fantastic. Plenty of sandy trails to take a casual walk or jog and no bicycles are allowed. Look at the map photo for the relative size and circular walking paths. The reason is that there are several medium-sized mounds with either stairs or a sand-covered trail. Please note that climbing the wooden stairs in the photo is safer than descending. Dogs are welcome; restrooms and picnic tables are near the entrance gate, and there is limited parking at no charge. If crowded, you can find nearby parking on the neighboring streets.
The Escape Game San Jose - Santa Clara Darlin Mitch: We had an amazing time at the escape room in San Jose! A big shoutout to Sam, who made the experience even more memorable—she was incredibly kind, friendly, and helpful from start to finish.
Sam explained everything clearly, gave just the right amount of guidance when needed, and made us feel comfortable and excited to dive into the challenge. The room itself was well-designed, immersive, and packed with clever puzzles that kept us engaged and thinking.
Whether you’re a first-timer or a seasoned escape room enthusiast, this place is a must-visit—and if you’re lucky, you’ll get Sam as your game master. We’ll definitely be coming back for another round!
Santa Teresa County Park - San Jose Monica: Love coming to this place! So quiet and serene.
Dog friendly is a big plus. Not everyone has their dogs with them
The trail I go on is coyote peak and ridge trail. That’s about 3.5 mile loop trail
Lots of trail options. A good amount of parking even on weekends.
Very good view of the city as well. Especially if you go to the top point on some of the trails, you get a 360 view
OMESCAPE San Jose - San Jose Kathleen Chen: $42.99/person. Easy parking in an industrial area. Waiting area, cool inside. Place to lock your belongings. They give you an extra 10 minutes to solve after the hour. They give you tons of clues. Not the easiest puzzles. Would recommend. Friendly staff. Guided through everything. Went through 4 rooms for pandemic zero.
