Kimberly Ann Graham: The Peace Pagoda in SFs Japantown is currently under renovation. This project was started in May of 2024 and isnt expected to be finished until the end of 2025 early 2026. The entire area is fenced off with chain link fence and green screening. Cant really give it a good review at this point but when they do open it, I will get photos and revise my review. Cant wait to see this beautiful part of town revitalized and renewed.
Jessica Harrison: There are always things happening in Chinatown. My kids and I love checking out the events calendar and visiting when there are activities and events going on.
The people are friendly and the food is good.
We normally will leave the car at the hotel and ride the cable car over and hop off at Grant Ave.
Lisa: I have been coming to Sutro Heights Park for 20 years and each time I visit I am so satisfied. There is a free parking lot located at the bottom of the park or there is street parking up above. This park boasts gentle rolling grass hills, granite pathways, colorful flowers, a rich history and the most sensational views. The grandkids had a blast running through the park & playing football and we all enjoyed a picnic with views of Ocean Beach. Be sure to read the history of this park (Adolph Sutro)

Neal: Beautiful place with probably the best views of any public park in San Francisco.
This place doesnt paved paths, but there are some benches. If you look at the hill itself, its not much, but if you look around, youll see so much. I highly recommend visiting this place. Its never crowded.
Lina Eryani: Buena Vista Park offers an incredible hiking experience with a variety of trails that cater to different fitness levels. Along the way, you’ll find benches where you can pause to take in the scenery or enjoy a quiet moment. The park is also dog-friendly, so feel free to bring your furry friend along for the adventure.
For the best experience, wear sturdy shoes, as some trails can be steep and uneven. Bring water and a camera to capture the incredible views. Sunrise or sunset hikes are particularly magical, with the changing light adding an extra layer of beauty to the surroundings.
Whether you’re a local looking for a quick getaway or a visitor wanting to explore San Francisco’s natural side, Buena Vista Park is a must-visit destination for hikers and sightseers alike.
Patrick Graham: We came here because my wife really wanted to see the houses immortalized in the opening credits of Full House. We took a Waymo to get there which was a safe and quick way to get there.
There were a fair amount of tourists there taking pictures of the houses. The colours of the houses were pretty muted. I was thinking they would be brighter colours based on their name, something like you might see in the Caribbean.
I’d agree with what others say that being there at sunset would result in much better photos. We were there in the early afternoon. The large trees also did obscure them as previously mentioned by others.
You do get a great view of the city in the background behind the ladies. You can see the Transamerica Pyramid, Bank of America Tower and Salesforce Tower rising above the city in the background.
Worth seeing but wouldn’t quite call it a must see when you are here. If you have time stop by around sunset for the best photos.
