    Joseph: I scheduled an appointment for a SMOG check, which should be very quick, routine, and straightforward. I arrived there a few minutes early and they all looked at me like they had no idea of any appointment and told me they were waiting on "the guy" whatever that means. SMOG check isnt a specialty service, shouldnt require a special "guy" to do it. Meanwhile every single service bay is occupied so they have me park and wait. Im waiting there for 30 minutes with no one updating me on anything. The whole point of the appointment is to be given service when it is that time. Dont have time to wait around an undetermined amount of time during a workday. Bad experience, wont be returning.

My dad used to handle all of this, hes a car expert, he went back to Argentina. Found these guys.They could have easily overcharged me for everything! Went to them for a quote, went to another guy for a second opinion, these guys were the right price and didnt add anything extra. The car is running great. Later had another incident happen to me.     Chuck Goettsche: Ive never written a single review before. I guess it takes a lot to impress me. Well, I got to say I am very, very impressed with Magallanes Auto Repair. I needed to replace the engine on my 1997 Toyota T-100 Pickup truck. This was a big decision for me, to invest so much in a 28-year-old truck, but if you know trucks, you know this is a special truck. Having lived in California for 50 years, I discussed this repair with two of my former favorite mechanics, and on the basis of a recommendation from AAA, I talked to Magallanes. The shop manager and the front office staff treated me with respect and extreme patience as I had many, many questions about the scope of this project. My confidence in their competence grew as I learned they had been in business for decades and I appreciated that most of the workers were mature (like me) and for example I was told the mechanic who would be working on my truck had been doing this work for 40 years. Well, after much careful thought, they got the job. I can honestly say it was one of the better decisions Ive made in my life. Throughout the project, the front office kept me informed at each step of the way. As long as I was replacing the engine, I wanted to make everything right with the truck so I added service items and new front brakes. When the work was complete and I went to pick up my truck, I was delighted to learn the work came in $200 under the estimate. Not only was the work done on budget in a timely fashion, but they did extra work. It was the little things...the handbrake was adjusted, a tail light was replaced, a future likely problem with the mechanical linkage of the clutch pedal was repaired - everything was improved while my truck was in their care. If youve read this far, youre youre getting the idea that I love my truck, and I do, but I also love the people at Magallanes. Whether its routine service or a major repair I strongly recommend that you go talk to these people. Talk to Adriana or Juana in the front office, talk to Alberto the shop manager and Im sure you will come away with the feeling of confidence and trust that made me choose them for my big repair.
