5 /5 Loren Haas: My wife and I have been members for 15 years. If you expect church to be narrow minded, legalistic and to worship the Bible you will be surprised that CrossWalk checks none of those boxes. While the oldest Baptist church in Napa, (American Baptist, as in MLKs affiliation) founded in 1860, it is not stuck defending antiquated culture. It is egalitarian with women in pastoral roles, leadership and teaching positions. It is LGBTQ welcoming and fully affirming with members of that community participating in leadership. We also have outstanding teaching from toddlers through Middle School. Pastor Peter Shaws teaching is intellectually challenging but emphasizes spiritual and meditative practices as well. It is a very relaxed, come as you are atmosphere full of real people. People of other faith practices are welcome here. Services at 9 and 10 AM.
We believe following Jesus also means serving the community in a sacrificial way. We host 40+ recovery groups on a weekly basis. Our parking lot is almost always busy. We operate a food pantry and supply food and cooking essentials to people moving off the street and into safe housing. We also work with other churches to feed unhoused people in Napa on the weekend. We provide space on our large campus for non-profits such as citizenship clinics and immigration legal aid. Our gym is used by schools, clubs and sports leagues.
Crosswalk is the first Emergency shelter to open and the last to close. Fifteen minutes and we can open the doors. During the recent earthquake and fires we housed evacuees and were an information hub. We are currently remodeling our large but antiquated kitchen to modern standards so as to be able to provide meals. The bathrooms and gym showers have been upgraded to ADA standards to better serve everyone.
Come experience CrossWalk. Instead of higher walls, we make bigger tables.
