1 /5 Janice Todd: My experience at the Chico facility has been deeply troubling. There needs to be more awareness to prevent similar incidents in the future. During a visit, my father experienced side effects from his medication, so we sought to discuss his symptoms with his doctor. Instead, we were referred to an RN named S***n.
In the examination room, S***n locked the door and immediately started accusing me of not liking the VA. She began making harsh accusations, claiming my father had more serious issues than what he was being seen for, suggesting I was part of my father’s problems! As she continued twisting my words to imply I was blaming the VA for what was happening, she aggressively questioned me and then proceeded to interrupt me with more questions. This behavior caused significant distress for both my father and me.
It’s concerning that such actions and attitudes were displayed by a healthcare professional. I hope this feedback leads to greater awareness and training within this facility to prevent similar situations in the future.
If you have a loved one who is vulnerable, always make sure to have an advocate with them. This incident occurred earlier in the year, and I’m still very hesitant to share it due to concerns about potential mistreatment of my father. However, I believe it’s important to share this experience because I don’t think it was the first time S***n treated a patient like this. If I don’t speak out, she might do it again.
