5 /5 Tiffany Robertson: I love Caldwell Park. There is a larger skate park area and a tiny one for the kids. Nice area to walk along the water, with a few spots you can walk in, get your feet wet. Its beautiful.

4 /5 charissa: Great park with lots to do and nice areas to play. Next to the river and very scenic, has a boat launch and a nice play area. Has a pool and areas to ride your bike. There is a skatepark nearby also. I think there is a restaurant inside the park somewhere. The park is overall great. Things to be aware of are the bathrooms are usually unavailable but they usually have a porta potty open, and there can be a lot of homeless people near the entrance. Would be 5 stars if the bathrooms were available more often. The homeless people usually mind their own business but I did once see one pee on a tree right in front of everyone right at the entrance which was pretty nasty.

4 /5 Confidential: Very peaceful,clean, excellent bike trail. If u need a place to walk your dog, river trail is perfect. River trail takes you to the sundial and turtle bay so yeah love it!

There is a large pool with 2 water slides, a skate park, river accessibility, nice trails, playground, fish viewing area along the river and many other fun options for pretty much anybody. I took some photos the other day of the river flooding much of the waters edge after all this rain. If you found this review useful please like my post. Thanks

5 /5 S H: Bathrooms not all handicapped accessible. Two are. They are at opposite ends but technically the other playground is at lake Redding park. They are connected but two different parks technically. River is great.

Largest Grindstone in the World -

bartellj: I’ve spent my entire life looking for the world‘s largest grinding stone, and I finally found it. This beautiful piece of stone and metal machinery is absolutely breathtaking especially with the Arco gas station in the background. If you are driving down I five you absolutely must pull off and take a family portrait, or your new social media profile picture in front of this God bless the grinding stone makers!

Redding River Trail -

Aaron Howard: Great views of Redding, Sacramento River, and the Sundial Bridge. Lots of open area for dogs to explore. Picknick tables are nice to sit and watch your dog.

Redding Geodesic Sphere - Redding

David Marshall: Im glad they finally made thus into a place to stop at and take a closer look at the sphere! Its just kinda down a road that eventually comes to a dead end, and there isnt anything really around it, so Im sure there is not a ton of visitors to stop and look at the sculpture? The area is nice a clean. Bathroom was nice a clean when I was there. It was nice though cause nobody was there, and I could take my pics and not have to watch out for people. Its a nice place, I just hope they maybe add some more too it so that it might attract more people.

Minder Park - Redding

Jacob: Having a decent playground right next to Lema Ranch is great. The downside is the no dogs rule is not enforced and it’s not uncommon for people to let their dogs off leash, despite the signage. Last time I was there, someone’s large dog was walking up on people’s toddlers without the owner batting an eye, all while an employee was nearby.

Downieville Museum - Downieville

bartellj: So much cool history inside! You get to Learn about the gold Rush and all the minors that got rich. It’s pretty small so it’s easy to look at everything and the museum staff is very knowledgeable. Ask about the gallows up the hill.

Kentucky Mine Museum - Sierra City

Brennan Hill: I remember exploring this mine and these structures as a child in the mid 70s after it was abandoned in the early 50s. The County historical society has done an Excellent job of preserving and maintaining this landmark with access and tours. I highly recommend taking the tour, it is the only way to access the inside of the mine entrance and stamp mill, and the docent explains the entire process for this type of hard-rock gold mine, and the rich history of this claim. I absolutely love this place, and Im thrilled that it is still here for my kids to enjoy and appreciate.

Sierra Buttes Trailhead - Sierra City

paterjo: Great trailhead for mountain biking some of the Downieville classics like Butcher Ranch trail, Pauley Creek trail, First, Second and Third Divide trails which all end in Downieville. The trails are fairly advanced so make sure you are experienced and I recommend arm and leg armor as the rocks are sharp and the cliffs are steep. You can set up a self shuttle to get to this trail head or there are two shuttle services in Downieville. The trails are beautiful and run along Pauley Creek and some other creeks providing great scenery and the sound of water.
