3 /5 Sharon Fields: We had a bacon western burger with fries and cornbread. Plus, a tri tip plate with chili beans, potato salad, and cornbread.
The fries were great! Possibly coated with flour then fried, which made them very crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The potato salad was also really good, not too wet or dry. The burger was okay, nothing wrong with it, but not a solo reason to eat there.
The cornbread was a bit on the dry side, the beans appeared to be pinto beans with some ground beef inside and very heavy on the pepper. I absolutely love tri tip whenever I can get it. Leroys was okay. It was sliced with the grain instead of across/against the grain like is usually done. This may have contributed to the fact that it was tough with the collagen (connective tissue inside the meat) still evident, as if it had not been cooked long enough. My impression was that the pit master is inexperienced, due to the cooking time and slicing error.
I really do hope they are able to regroup and adjust so that their business can thrive. It breaks my heart to see small businesses fail needlessly. The staff was very nice and helpful! I wish you guys lots of luck.
