4 /5 Afshin Afshar-Ghasemlou: A Seafood Oasis in Bakersfields Ice House
I was returning to San Francisco, and on my way through Bakersfield, I decided to take some extra time for lunch. Looking online for a new place to try, I found La Costa Mariscos an interesting option.
The restaurant is in a historic brick building called the Ice House. It serves hacienda-style Mexican food, and the menu is rich with fish and seafood. When I got there, the place was packed. The hostess asked me if I wanted to sit at the bar, and I said yes.
I had no idea what to order, so I asked the waitress, a charming young lady, to suggest something. She hesitated, so I asked for her favorite and assured her I was not a picky eater. She suggested something Colorado; I am unsure if it was Chili Colorado or something else, but I wanted it with the "steak" option, not chicken.
While waiting for my meal, I looked around. The building is spacious and fascinating, and the interior is colorful and friendly.
My lunch was so delicious, and I was so pleased that I ordered one to go. While waiting, I indulged in my favorite Mexican dessert, flan! I left the Ice House with a full belly and fully satisfied with my choice. The place is beautiful, the service is excellent, and the food is delicious.
