1 /5 Adrian Kaesberg: Be careful! This restaurant automatically adds an 18% gratuity. This was NOT mentioned when ordering and was NOT on the menu (it only states that gratuity applies for parties of 7 or more, which we were not). When you sign the check, they prompt you to add a tip again, trying to squeeze an extra 20% from their guests. They also added a credit card surcharge, again without informing us beforehand. I felt scammed.
I believe this not legal - I’ll consider reporting this to the California Attorney General.
After realizing this, we went back to the restaurant and asked for the gratuity to be removed, which they did.
The dining room is cozy, and the food was okay. The sides were good, the Apfelstrudel was great, but the schnitzel was very dry and nothing like the schnitzel you get in Germany or Austria.
