Nathan Leishman My wife and I love attending church here. I highly recommend it. Sunday services are open to the public (starting at 10am and 11:10am). The atmosphere is welcoming and friendly. You can expect to hear sermons and lessons on various Christian topics. There are age-appropriate activities and lessons for children of all ages, so feel free to bring the whole family.

Stephanie Hatch Leishman During my first time attending this church, the members were very welcoming and they have been welcoming ever since. The lessons and sermons are focused on Jesus Christ and his teachings. This is the best Christian church in the area. It is very family friendly, as there is something for everyone: children, teenagers, adults, married, single, divorced, widowed… whoever you are you will feel a part of the community. The teachers give interesting and well-researched lessons. There are religion classes from beginner to advanced. The Sacrament meetings (Sunday mornings) are a meditative, holy experience that is both calming and instructive. I whole-heartedly recommend this church if you are looking for a place to worship.

Ashleen Buchter This church has an amazing community and treats all it’s members like family. Fellowshipping plays an important part in this church. Anyone is welcome to join the Sunday services. I love that this church has an amazing service-outreach program. Another aspect that I love about this church is that we get to hear from different members every week. It’s a great way to become closer to each other and strengthen your own testimony. I also love that every person you pass by here will be smiling at you and/or say a welcoming phrase.

Joshua Baldwin This church has very exquisite and very beautiful architecture that is not only a historic treasure but also truly lifts the heart and soul toward God. However, during my visit there with a friend a year or two ago, my friend shared with me that few if any of the parishioners had expressed any interest in getting to know or befriending her and her husband during their time there. While parish architecture is important and a beautiful church truly does life the heart and soul to God, I gathered that the parishioners there had lost sight of the importance of community and had formed unhealthy cliques and fail to welcome visitors and new parishioners. That is why I am leaving a three-star rating, which is the lowest that I will ever rate a Catholic church. If you are reading this and you are a St. Canice parishioner, please commit to being more welcoming in the future. Thanks!

Have been attending this church for years, only down fall was when my husband and I went thru several surgeries not one member reached out to us to see why we weren’t attending. Was very disappointed, had two other people in other churches reach out to help us. I feel church is about not only worship but being a good Christian and helping your neighbors. Making everyone feel welcome.

Annette Krulisky Yes, St. Canice is a beautiful, quaint, Victorian era church with breathtaking stained glass and high wood covered​ ceiling. It is a small church and the people may be friendly, but when I attended Mass there for three straight months, not a soul even said hello. One time I thought someone was making contact so I smiled at him only to realize he wanted his hat in the pew I was sitting in. However, when I wish to get away and disappear and be left alone Saint Canice is perfect.

Barbara Glenn Nevada City just oozes charm and History. No matter which end of town you are at you can be sure of a historic story about a building. I just loved the gorgeous white church with tall bell tower. Im sure the congregation is proud of the place it holds in town.

In these days of online services, it has become clearer than ever that the church is not a building, it is a people. Victoria Gonzales Love Sierra Presbyterian Church! I found my people. They are genuinely warm , caring and welcoming. Come as you are and enjoy! The pastors are amazing and give good sermons and how to apply to your life. Ive been to so many churches in Nevada county and there is plenty of good ones, but Sierra Pres stood out and made me feel like family. So many activities also to get involved in. I just love them and love how they make your connection to God beautiful ! Come one come all!

Patti Favetti Beautiful surroundings, eady to get to, large room with Windows everywhere to let in the incredible view of pine trees and nature. It has nice bathrooms, and a huge kitchen. Everything you need, right in Nevada City, but feels like you are out on a retreat.
