Orangetheory Fitness - Redwood City
Linda Leeb: This is my favorite place to work out. It’s super efficient, effective and fun. Each class is approximately 57 minutes of exercise and a few minutes of stretching. You don’t have to plan what to do; just show up and follow the coach’s instructions. The exercises vary every day. The workout involves a combination of three elements: 1) weight training on the floor, where each person has a bench, set of dumbbells, TRX, resistance bands, and bosu; 2) running or walking on the treadmill; and 3) rowing. If you can’t do treadmill or rower there are also a couple bikes and a stepper. Visual instructions are displayed on video screens for the floor exercises. Coaches help with modifications if you have orthopedic issues. People of all different ages and abilities go to this gym. You “compete” with yourself, not with others. You adjust your own weights and treadmill speed and incline depending on how hard you want to push yourself. Coaches provide gentle encouragement and form correction. Over time you will see improvement. The coaches are all great at this location. If you’re curious, try a workout and there’s absolutely no pressure to join or commit to a longterm membership.
ObstaCourse Fitness - Redwood City
Anas aMez: Update: It has now been one year and three months since I began my journey with Obstacourse. Throughout this period, I have experienced both challenges and triumphs, shaped by significant life events. I am pleased to share that I am currently in the best health I have enjoyed in over a decade—my cholesterol has decreased by 52 mg and is now within the normal range. This progress has been achieved through self-discipline and mindful choices, without formal coaching. As I reflect on my accomplishments, including reaching bronze member status and completing 150 circuit training sessions (my 1st milestone out of 4), I am grateful for the growth and resilience I have developed along the way. I wanted to share a little slice of my recent adventure. Attached youll find a photo from my 4-hour hike at Rif Mountain in Chefchaouen, Morocco. It was an incredible experience, made even more special as I got to wear my prize (“COMMIT T-Shirt from Obstacourse) from the 150-circuit training sessions. The scenery was simply breathtaking, and I felt a great sense of accomplishment both from the hike and all the training that led to it.
New Gym -
Fullsterkur Barbell Club - San Carlos
ross: one of my favorite gyms! its private, they have some of my favorite leg machines and they are one of the few gyms that have 55lb plates, great for heavy lifting challenges!
Cañada College Athletic Center - Redwood City
Lidiane Altoe: I was really excited to join this new gym, but after just a few visits, I’m already reconsidering my decision. The space is nice and the equipment looks great in theory, but it’s so overcrowded that actually using anything is a challenge. Even during non-peak hours, its packed. Machines are constantly taken, there’s barely room in the weight area, and it feels like the gym sold way more memberships than it can realistically handle. For a new facility, I expected better planning and member experience. Unless they make changes to manage the crowd, like limiting memberships or adding more equipment, I don’t see how this is sustainable. They also have some weird rules and hours of operation that are definitely frustrating. By reading the other reviews, sounds like I’ll also have to hustle to cancel my membership …
Fitness Court at Redwood Shores - Redwood City

Advanced Sports Performance & Fitness - San Carlos
Marenda Kouch: 5/5 – Love This Gym! Advanced Performance Gym is honestly the best. No matter your fitness level—beginner, advanced, somewhere in between—they make you feel completely welcome. The coaches are super supportive and actually pay attention to what you need. I worked out here through my pregnancy and came back postpartum, and they were amazing. They helped me modify everything, made sure I felt safe, and never made me feel out of place. But the real reason I love this place is the community. Everyone is friendly, encouraging, and just fun to be around. It’s the kind of gym you actually look forward to going to. Highly recommend this gym if you want a supportive, uplifting place to train!
