2 /5 Bryan Dorsey: I wouldnt do business with them again.
I was a Rise Credit Union member for years (formerly SCEFCU), always paying on time and often paying extra. Twice in hard times, once during a divorce which I recovered from quickly, and now while between jobs without regular income, I fell behind.
The first time, they closed my line of credit. One representative told me it was policy and nothing could be done. Another later admitted he did not know why it was closed, since I was well within the grace period they give all customers before taking that step. That was my first red flag.
This second time, the delay in catching up has been longer, about four months. Both times, despite regular communication and a payment here and there to show good faith, they chose the harshest path.
Now they have sold my account to a debt collector, adding fees, threatening to sue me and place a lien on my property (charging me for their lawyer), even though I have already paid a third of the balance and have every intention to pay in full once I join my next full-time design team.
I understand policies, but this shows me how poorly they treat loyal local members experiencing tough moments.
