Find the Best Gym Near You: Top [12] Fitness Centers in Los Angeles, CA
12-2025 GymTonic in Find the Best Gym Near You: Top [12] Fitness Centers in Los Angeles, CA24 Hour Fitness - Los Angeles Mr. Hart: Pretty RAGGEDY. Two stars is generous for the condition of this gym. Giving one extra star because the location is good and the building itself is nice - three floors with big windows and a nice view.
Most of the equipment is old and poorly maintained - if maintained at all. Theres always several treadmills out of order and usually several other pieces of equipment not working. Weights and other equipment are spread all over the gym and you may or may not find matching dumbbells, desired weights or pins for the weight machines. The sauna and jacuzzi are usually out of order, but I cant imagine wanting to step into either at this location anyway. Also, no A/C
The whole place is pretty dirty, but the bathrooms are probably the worst part of the whole experience. There is mold around all the faucets and in the grout. The sinks and countertops are stained and the drains smell. The urinals dont really flush and havent for a while. The solution for the non-functioning urinals is putting a trash bag over some, or all of them and sometimes burning incense to cover the smell. But I dont think theres ever been an attempt to actually repair the toilets.
2 weeks ago, one of the urinals had actual pee leaking out running across the floor for 2 consecutive days, maybe longer. Thats two days of people walking through pee and then tracking it through the club onto the floors people are using for stretching and crunches etc. Nasty.
Bottom line is, there are many, much better alternatives in LA for the same price as 24 Slauson. And, to whoever is responsible for copy/pasting the "looks like we have room for improvement" response to this review, no need. Ive been going here for a couple years and its obvious no attempts are being made to make this gym what it could be. Moving on!
Crunch Fitness - West Hollywood - Los Angeles Michele Curcho: Amazing gym ever!
Empty, good vibes and Thara the manager, she’s is incredibly amazing energy !
Highly recommend this place!
I left equinox to do workout here!
No regrets ever.
Planet Fitness - Los Angeles Erich Schulze: A truly terrible experience: ultra (ultra) low flow shower heads, in a bad way. Filthy bathrooms (see photo of cleaning bucket. No ac. This place is like an oven Upside is very friendly staff. This place is in desperate need of management.
LA Fitness - Los Angeles Daniel Amaro: First time to this location, had business to attend and decided to workout nearby. I was hesitant at first, after reading so many negative reviews.
This LAFITNESS location did not disappoint, multiple layers of workout space, they have plenty of machines and free weights; all working. The locker room, bathrooms and showers were very clean.
The entire staff was friendly and on top of things for what I saw. Also the people working out was cool and handling workout business.
Parking structure seen safe and clean, walking security at all times. Validation inside the LAFitness front desk.
Overall excellent gym and recommend! I’ll probably be back, had a good workout.
Planet Fitness - Los Angeles Jon Vasquez: Been going to this gym for more than two years now. Used to be better when it was 24 hours but does have all lot of positives. Gym is clean and there team member Anthony is awesome. Very helpful when it comes to gym advice and also very eager to help you out in fhe front desk in case anything is needed. Great Customer service overall. Recommend.
EĹŤS Fitness - Los Angeles Abel P&T: The gym is in a good location, with plenty of shopping and food options nearby, which makes it convenient for quick errands before or after a workout.
The staff, for the most part, is fairly attentive. However, there are a few individuals who give off the impression that they’d rather not be there. That kind of energy doesn’t go unnoticed, it affects the atmosphere and the image of the gym. The front desk team is the first impression people get when they walk in, so when staff are chatting among themselves instead of greeting or assisting members, it sends the wrong message. It’s something management and especially the owner should pay attention to, because that front-line interaction really represents Golds Gym as a whole.
The gym itself is not very large — it’s a single-floor location, unlike the two-story one in La Mirada — but for its size, it’s well-equipped and laid out nicely. It does get crowded at times, but not to the point where it becomes unbearable.
The locker room renovations were a nice touch, and the bathrooms are generally clean and maintained, which is always appreciated.
One of the biggest positives for me is the number of squat racks. They have more than enough, and that’s a huge plus — especially compared to other locations like the Gold’s Gym in Arcadia, where there are only three free-weight squat racks. (To clarify, I’m referring to the traditional squat racks that aren’t part of a Smith machine — the kind where you’re lifting the barbell freely without guided rails.)
There is one small issue worth mentioning: one of the racks on the far left side of the gym, near the treadmills, is missing its adjustable J-hooks, the attachments that let you change the bar height. It would be great if management could replace or reinstall those.
Overall, this gym isn’t bad at all. It’s clean, functional, and has most of what you’d need for a solid workout. The main area for improvement is customer service. The staff could be more engaged and professional, as that really shapes the overall experience.
If I were to give this gym a rating, I’d say it’s a solid 7 out of 10. Customer Service at the end of the day makes up 70-80% of a Business.
LA Fitness - Los Angeles Dave Sorrendino: Nicolas Marin is a beast of a trainer and absolutely deserves a 5-star shoutout.
I’ve been working out for years, so I’m not exactly new to the gym, but he still managed to level me up without trying to “reinvent the wheel” or talk down to me. From the jump he locked in on what I actually needed — tightening up form, not rushing, focusing on form, smarter programming with my sets, and pushing past the usual comfort zone without wrecking my joints.
He really dialed in small adjustments that made a big difference (stuff I honestly should’ve caught by now), and the session never felt generic. Real knowledge and the right amount of push. I walked out feeling gassed in the best way, but not broken, and very aware and exciting and exactly what I need to be working on next.
If you already train and want someone who can fine-tune your game instead of just counting reps, go see Nicolas. Super solid dude, locked-in energy, 5 stars all day! Thanks
Barbell Brigade Gym - Los Angeles Ying Liang: Cool gym for the serious powerlifter. Very well kept with friendly and knowledgeable staff. No AC, but the fans keep the air circulation going and you dont notice it much when you start lifting. Worth checking out if you get the chance.
