10th Planet Jiu Jitsu San Mateo - San Mateo
Kravis Roberts: Visiting from Hong Kong and trained at 10th Planet San Mateo for the past 3 months, hands down one of the best jiu jitsu gyms in the Bay Area. Adam is an incredible coach who makes every class technical, safe, and fun. The training environment is super friendly and welcoming, with a very high level of jiu jitsu. Whether you’re a beginner or advanced, this is the place to train on the Peninsula. Can’t recommend it enough!
B Street Boxing - San Mateo
DOMINIC Albanese: If you want to better yourself as a boxer, or just get in shape and change your life, this is the place. You can train next to real fighters, and work with some of the best coaches in California. Eddie is a legend and an amazing person, and everyone there is like a family. Ive trained at a dozen combat sports gyms and this is my favorite one by far.
CorePower Yoga - San Mateo - San Mateo
Allison Agnello: I love the heated classes here! Studio is clean with convenient lockers/showers. Taking classes regularly has improved my flexibility and strength. Very appreciative of CPY!

24 Hour Fitness - Redwood City
24 Hour Fitness
Austin Gould: Just had the exact same experience as Jay Valencia (read that review if you’ve had issues with the 3 day pass). rude boys at the front know the fine print on the 3 day pass is misleading but got smug about it anyways. went to crunch fitness instead and had a great workout at a high quality gym with fantastic equipment. definitely go to crunch instead if you’re reading this. also there are many generic responses from the club owner on these reviews sharing the contact page to discuss further, but this contact us page goes somewhere to fill out a form so you can then talk to a manager at the local club. i already spoke to a manager and he was rude and unprofessional. please just teach your staff to be nice and welcoming to people like any decent gym would. the 3 day pass fine print is misleading and if people wasted their time to drive in there, the last thing they need is rude customer service.
24 Hour Fitness - Millbrae
24 Hour Fitness
Shafia Nisa: Maria was amazing and so sweet. She helped sign me up as a vendor for the first block party at 24 hour fitness in Millbrae. I highly recommend this location because of Maria and her support.
The Bar Method - San Mateo
Diana Darrow: This is such a great studio. The owner, Noreen, is wonderful. All the instructors here are wonderful. I started attending when I became pregnant and wanted to stay in shape but didn’t wanted to go about it in a safe manner. Everyone was so accommodating. They were knowledgeable and gave me modifications. The classes are really tough and the instructors push you to challenge yourself but it’s okay to go at your pace and no one makes you feel bad.
Ninja Republic - San Mateo
Tony Gentilcore: One of the first kids birthday venues in the area that I, as a dad, had fun at. They dont check whats in your cooler and they let you try the real ninja warrior walls. Oh, and the kids had a blast. Highly recommended.
Movement Belmont - Belmont
Chris Fox: Did not have a great experience here. Id give it maybe 3 stars until I went to cancel my membership. First, the place smells like a bad combo of feet and climbing chalk. All climbing gyms have something of a funk, but this place is the worst. I joined to take the yoga classes mostly, but thats a hard pass. Classes start on time, but the gym allows members to show up late. When they do, they move the curtain, light up the whole room, and the noise of 100 climbers floods the room. Right in the time when youre settling in and trying to focus. Then the weight room is above the yoga room, so you get to hear weights slamming down during class, which is also disruptive. I found the classes super uneven, some being great (Bronwyn) and others being a weird combo of loud music over soft voices so you cant hear the instructor, or instructors borderline shouting at folks to expel breath as loud as possible. Not what Im looking for. So, no problem, its not for me. Its close to home, price is reasonable, and they have good climbing facilities. Boulder area isnt the best, but the rest of it is quite good with interesting routes changed often...enough. When I went to cancel, I was hit with a "policy" that you have to cancel on or before the 25th of a month or they will charge you for another month. I reached out on the 26th, 5 days before the next charge cycle. Seemed like plenty. Complained, go zero response. So basically I consider they robbed me of $110, because of course the cancellation policy is not visible..until you go to cancel. Hope it was worth the money, Movement. Cannot recommend.
