Kristy Tran Kim has been doing this for a long time and you can tell. She did an amazing job with my haircut. She’s really knowledgeable and listens to what you want as the outcome of your visit. Kim will give you her honest advice for styles that best suit your face in case you want to change up your look or aren’t sure what to go for. Also the products she uses are top notch and feel great. I cannot recommend her enough. My family and I will only be going to her from now on!

Linoy Utkina Kim has been working on my hair for years and she is the only person I trust to consistently do a great job. Karla Aguilar I started going to Kim 2 years ago when I was in desperate need of finding someone to fix my hair color on time for my wedding 2 weeks prior to my event. Yuritzi Aguilar Kim is amazing!!! I started going to her January of this year and I wish I’d went to her sooner. My sister had been going to Kim for some time and would tell me to try Kim. I wish I would’ve listened. Prior to going to Kim I was just getting my roots done to a light brown color and seems like my old stylist would use different tones and my hair color was uneven. I expressed to Kim that I was tired of having uneven hair color and she took the time to explain and guide me on what needed to be done in order to accomplish what I wanted. She is very knowledgeable and gave me tips on shampoos and hair products to use to take care of my hair. Kim made me feel so comfortable that I decided to try a new look with highlight and fell in love with it!! I recently moved to Arizona and refuse to have anyone else touch my hair because of how much trust I have in Kim. We all know how hard it is to find the right person. Every time I get a chance to go to California I make sure I have an appointment with Kim!

He always does a fantastic job and every time I walk out the door, will get a compliment on the cut from a random stranger. Masitsa Lubembe I’ve been getting my hair braided by Tamera the last several months and I truly love the experience. My braids are finished perfectly every time and they last! Kalvin Fountain Black Sheep is more than a hair salon, its a beautifully and intentionally cultivated community hub. Not to mention I get the best, most affirming cuts and color of my life here. As a neurodivergent transmasc person, going to salons and barbershops can be quite uncomfortable. Thats why Im so pleased and comforted to have found a place where I can be at ease and trust I wont be judged, but actually celebrated for who I am. Dinnie has somehow magically found a way to form my hair into the perfect blend of masc/femme so I leave her chair feeling my best and hottest. Not to mention the space is so neurospicy friendly! Each station has a list of options you can pick from including "a quiet session" and "no smelly things" and much more! I love this place and will keep coming back to see Dinnie and generally bask in the immaculate vibes.

Candace Benson got married last month in Oceanside and to my dismay, I couldnt find any salons in the area that I felt I could get a bridal style done with natural, two-strand twists. My stylist up in the Bay Area suggested checking out Black Sheep Salon, even though theyre in Long Beach, and Im so glad I did. I connected first with a stylist thought would be the best fit based on her IG, and Tamara was excited and very collaborative as we spent some time exchanging ideas and inspiration virtually. I met with her at the salon earlier this year and we had a nice consultation where we figured out the plan for the big day. I found the salon itself very welcoming and I appreciate that its just the stylists and the clients in at any given time. They offer snacks and drinks and I was very comfortable during my ~5 hour appointment. When I had feedback, Tamara was super receptive, and I was very happy with my final product. If I lived in the area, this would definitely be my go-to for getting my hair done

Pat Baumgartner Salon Benders is a super welcoming environment. The inside was clean and cherry with lots of plants. I got my hair cut out back, and that was really pleasant. MSL Dorsey JD is amazing! Excellent stylist and wonderful person!! I was fortunate enough to find JD right before my daughters prom. He scheduled our appointment without hesitation for a super busy Saturday morning and my daughters silk press turned out beautiful!!! He is on point with his scheduling and technique. My daughter has returned to him since the prom and loves her hair every single time. Her hair is always healthy and shiny. One times we even called him to see if he could squeeze her in last minute same day and even though he had already closed his shop for the day and gone all the way home, he turned right around and reopened for her, got her hair done beautifully and on time for her event and he had an appointment out of town that he had to rush to!! Amazing!!!! JD is courteous, professional, knowledgeable, friendly, always on time and goes above and beyond for his clients! And his salon is beautiful, clean and relaxing! Mary Papadopoulos I’m completely at a lost for words. I scheduled an appointment yesterday at 3:30 pm for a color appointment today at 2:15 pm. I’ve had my hair done at NuDu on several occasions with 3 different stylist through the years. My last stylist is no longer there so I asked for first available for a color. There were two ladies at the front, one scheduling and the other one listening. I was told a 2:15 appointment was available & the cost would be around $100. She told me she would need a card to schedule my appointment. Confused I asked what card? They have a 24 hour cancellation policy and would charge my card half the cost for a no show. I replied I’m already past my 24 hrs, so I need to show. I confirmed my 2:15 pm appointment, left the salon and walked in my door and wrote 2:15 pm Hair on a box (see below) to confirm my appointment today. I arrived today, only to be told my appointment was at 12:15 pm ….news to me. I was told they called me, but I did not answer. I was unavailable at 12:15 today. I had a prior appointment and did not have my phone turned on. I would not have scheduled a 12:15 appointment today, due to my prior commitment. I would never question the intelligence of the front desk, I am very service conscious, yet the manager/owner (whom I have supported and recommended the salon to friends) informed me that the front desk is intelligent and she believed her, and I would be charged $50 for a no show. But I was there at 2:15 . Instead asked to leave, charged $50, and my hair not done. The last thing I needed today was to be charged for a service not completed and lose privileges to a salon that I supported, even as stylist changed. Truly upset. I was completely under the impression my appointment was at 2:15 pm. I did not authorize $50 from a 12:15 appointment.

Tina Barry Meredith is not only an amazing stylist but as the owner of the shop, she is a wonderful leader and support for her team. I always get a great hair experience and the vibe in the shop is perfect.

Raavee Ralhan Good for hair dye, but not this is not for curly hair people. The dye job was done well. I had asked for blowdry just so the dye doesnt get on my shirt from wet hair, my words exactly. I even mentioned that its ok if my hair is slightly damp because even at home, it takes a long time to dry. But instead, there was an attempt to straighten my hair. I didnt ask for that. No one with straight hair walks out of a salon with a perm, so why should a curly haired person walk out with straight hair? Also my shirt got bleached as well, which usually doesnt happen with my regular. Edit: my baby hairs in the front turned blonde, I guess because I wash my face. I didnt realize a simple face wash could strip a semi-permanent dye. I usually dont have this problem with other hair stylists. I dont think Ill be returning here again.

L Eliot Love this place. Ive been going for years and have started bringing my elderly mom. They are always very kind and patient with her. Salon is always clean, professional and welcoming. Update 2021: I still love this place! Still very clean and well-run. Spacious and well-lit. Large selection of products for sale. I’ve been with Martha for many years and she’s wonderful. Only problem is she books up for weeks or even months but she’s worth the wait.

Andi Hendricks Im not sure how I havent posted a review already so this one is LONG overdue! Ive been to see Angie many times and Im always happy with the outcome. I never know what I want done yet she manages to exceed my expectations every time. She does an excellent job at choosing cuts, styles and colors that suit me. Took my daughter last weekend and shes ecstatic with the results. Now to find time for me!!!

P E Teaford I stumbled upon this place after considering some other salon recommendations from friends (it was their sign/logo). Im glad I took a chance because Ive been a customer for three years and I predict growing old with them! I feel like theyre are trendy without being off-putting. My stylist is KD, and she does fantastic work with my hair. She is also extremely engaging and charming. This salon is always busy, which is a very good sign, and everyone is friendly, happy, and welcoming (the owners, the many stylists, and the wonderful receptionists). They also have Bumble & Bumble products, which I love.

Patricia Pagel Wheeler Leland is a master at his craft. I’ve never found anyone that compares. After going to Leland for well over 20 years he’s perpetually building his knowledge about hair, products and the science behind great color. Currently he’s helping me gracefully transition to gray and I couldn’t be happier. I have curly hair but like the option to go straight. Leland knows how to cut my hair so it looks amazing both ways and uses keratin treatments that allow me to go curly without the frizz and straight while taming the effects of humidity. Leland has a great sense of humor, an easy going style and he’ll be honest about what will work for your hair. He’s an absolute gem.

Greta Sievert The JWG salon is very comfortable. All the stylists I’ve seen at work there do a great job for their clients. My Amiga & stylist extraordinaire Claudia is gifted at color & cuts. Amanda Stansbery I’ve been seeing Leland for 5 years now. I absolutely love him and his work. My hair always looks amazing after seeing him. He knows how to cut curly hair and if anyone has curly hair, you know how hard it is to find a stylist that knows how to take care of it. I get my hair colored and cut with him. I receive so many compliments on my hair color. I highly recommend him if you’re looking for a new stylist.
