1 /5 Dr. Marissa Castello: While taking a leisurely stroll, I noticed an intriguing green book on herbs that caught my attention in the front of the store.
Being a naturopathic doctor, I have a keen interest in how herbs and plants are showcased in modern literature. As I perused the book near the stores entrance, I couldnt help but sense an intense, uncomfortable gaze piercing through the artificial tree. There, behind the counter, was a blond saleswoman fixated on me. Despite greeting her, setting the book back, and entering the store, her unwelcoming stare persisted. She scrutinized me from head to toe, maintaining her intense and suspicious glare (as if suspecting me of taking off with the witchy herb book??).
The encounter left me feeling deeply unsettled and disheartened. Not a great way to welcome a curious shopper into your store.
A little kindness goes a long way.
