5 /5 Jennifer Nanek: Came here with family and friends last Sunday afternoon. A beautiful park. Lots of fun things to do whatever youre interested in. We went on a little steam train ride with my 1-year-old niece. She loved it as did her family of adults. There are some great picnic areas, both sunny and shady spots. We rode the merry-go-round and we enjoyed one of the trails that gave us some great views of San Francisco. Well worth the time to visit this spot. Everything seems to be well maintained and staff was very friendly.

ne maez: Really nice park. Big, fun playground with lots of features for older and small kids. Swings, slides, climbing. Large grass area with bbq pits. Clean flush toilets. Nice walking trails all around with bbq pits and picnic tables. The swimming pool in the same parking lot is only $3 for kids and $5 for adults.

Kathleen Valerio: This is a nice low key place to pop in for something a little different when youre near the beach. They have a couple tanks with a fish and a shark. They also have some fun interactive stuff like a microscope to look through, a ships wheel to turn, some bins with coloring supplies and books. Best of all its free.

Lake Chabot Regional Park - Castro Valley

Tothetrailsandbeyond: Lake Chabot is beautiful! We enjoyed our hike on the trail around the lake. Only $5 to park, bummed there were no in and out privileges though. It would have been nice to go back this afternoon. I had a great cappuccino at the Cafe. The server was very sweet and engaging. So refreshing these days! We also saw a nesting part of bald eagles with babies! Spectacular! We want to go back this week and rent a pontoon boat to drive around the lake. It would be a blast.

Cassidy Williams: This is one of my favorite local parks to visit. It is beautiful with many places to settle in for a nice picnic or hanging out. It is never too crowded and the people that go there tend to be friendly. There is a playground for young children as well with a public restroom that is pretty clean. This park also leads into hiking trails which is beautiful. The whole park is dog friendly too, but they need to be on leash. I highly recommend a visit!

alejandra corbella: A beautiful space to have a picnic, hike, kayak or go to the beach. Most people don’t know if this hidden gem in the Bay Area but their hiking trails are scenic. I came here last week and it looks like the beach has been closed to the public. To get in each car pays $5 plus an extra fee if you are fishing or bringing a pet

Cesar Chavez Park - Berkeley

Andrew Dowd: Absolutely one of the Crown Jewels of the bay - almost literally. Climb over sweeping hills to see the water of the bay unfurl around you, with the city and the GG bridge in the distance. I go here for my dog - I believe it is the largest open leash acreage in the Bay Area. Yes, perhaps it used it be a dump. It’s now lovely, and feels so freeing to tromp through. Great dogs go here, I never worry about who we’ll encounter. The wind can be very strong, so bring a windbreaker. The other perk, of course, are the kite flyers.

Adventure Playground - Berkeley

Carol Archer: Wonderful playground that offers a unique experience for kids. Must sign a waver before entering and most definitely monitor your children. The playground offers free donated wood to build with, tools - hammers and hand saws- nails, hinges, and water based paints. In order to acquire hand tools kids must use a magnet on a string to find lost nails or pick up trash. The playground has been constructed with donated lumber. The kids use their imaginations to build something. They can also add onto existing infrastructures and paint their projects. The playground inspects all new additions daily to assess any public safety issues. The playground is a close walk to ample parking and the view of the bay is stunning! Kids love this place!!
