1 /5 Jimmy T: It is quite interesting both my reviews for Rock of Roseville on Google and Yelp were shut down. Amanda from the church reached out indicating my information was dated since Francus Anfuso left 6 years ago, then both my reviews dropped. Can we have honest reviews, or will they be suppressed?
I think if there is a totally different culture, they should change their name. Francis Anfuso started Rock of Roseville, and from other recent reviews, the legacy continues.
Francis seemed a charismatic and intelligent orator.. He had many programs and used different media, selling copies of his messages. After attending for a year, I noticed he recycled his messages. He told some unusual stories, like that he had been demon possessed in Hawaii. He reminded me of Benny Hinn. Francis seemed to support prosperity gospel.
I remember Francis complaining to the congregation about not receiving enough money in the offerings, and how he had deserved more. This seemed confusing to me, as well as when he would say that we should not set boundaries of what God has for our lives, but then in another message, he would say that there were things that were not Gods will for "his life." He favored and taught tithing for the church. I felt guilted to tithe. I think the high contributors were given better attention.
I remember the Sunday morning presentations were compelling. I so wanted to believe this was where I needed to be among other Christians. Over time, it seemed like the presentations were only on the surface. They would say, "join a small group," but then the small groups would be full. So, I would message them in the offering, and they would not respond, so I would message again, and they would say "sorry. Francis would say he did "not have anything better to do than to love people," but I did not find this to be true. He seemed more concerned if he could wear earrings as pastor, and drive a sportscar. His role as pastor seemed to overrule any elders that were there.
There was a sense of expectation, but over time, it ended in disappointment, so I had to leave. He would say that there are seasons, affirming the change of leaving, and then later saying "breezing by the Holy Spirit," once again bringing confusion.
I met some wonderful people at this church, but I learned to avoid celebrity preachers. Do not allow preachers to tell you anything not supported by the Bible, and make sure the interpretation is correct. If this is taken down, it reflects manipulation and dishonesty.
