5 /5 ludy casey: I had such an amazing time at the Getty Museum! From the moment I arrived, it was just a wonderful experience all around. Even the tram ride up to the museum was a highlight for me—the views are absolutely incredible and really set the mood for a fantastic day. The museum itself is simply stunning. The buildings and gardens are beautifully designed, and the views of Los Angeles are nothing short of breathtaking. I loved the little touches they have, like the free umbrellas you can grab to keep the sun off while you stroll around the grounds. It’s just so thoughtful! The exhibits are out of this world! There’s such a fantastic variety of art to explore, and seeing pieces that are thousands of years old, perfectly preserved, really gives you this amazing sense of connection to history. Everything was super organized, and the staff were all so friendly and passionate about what they do. Plus, there’s plenty of indoor parking, and while you need to reserve tickets, they’re free, which is a nice bonus! If you find yourself in L.A., you absolutely have to check out the Getty. It’s such a relaxing and inspiring place, a perfect way to spend the day! 5 stars for this wonderful Museum!

5 /5 Shannon Lee: Visiting the Getty Museum for the first time over Memorial Day weekend was a fun and memorable experience. The gorgeous architecture, peaceful gardens in full Spring bloom, and amazing views of LA made it a perfect day to wander and explore. One of the highlights was the Caillebotte exhibit—I especially loved his paintings that profiled boats on the water. They were so calming and peaceful, and I could imagine myself right there in the scene. The Caillebotte exhibit was temporary, but the Getty often has special exhibits so check the website for any special offerings. I also really enjoyed seeing art works by Monet, Renoir, Manet, Titian, Veronese, Murillo, Gérard David, Van Gogh, Van Huysum, Rembrandt, and Pissarro, and more. I loved learning about all the art—there’s just so much to take in. Also, the gift shop is fantastic, and the cafeteria was way better than I expected.

5 /5 B Balboa: Went to The Getty earlier this year for the first time with my hubby and some friends! My friend booked it for us (you do have to reserve a time slot), and since we were staying near LAX, it was a bit of a mission to get there—but totally worth it. We got there around 4ish and it was pretty busy. From the parking area, you either walk or take a tram up to the museum—we took the tram and really enjoyed the short ride and the views. The museum’s up on a hill, which made the whole experience feel even more special. They had a Van Gogh exhibit while we were there and Irises was on display. Seeing it in person was amazing. We spent the rest of the time exploring the galleries—so many interesting pieces. On the way back, the tram line was super long so we just walked—and honestly, it was a nice way to end the visit. The air was cool, the walk was easy, and the sunset views were pretty great.

5 /5 Frank OConnor: I first went to the Getty as part of a high school architecture trip back in 2018. But we didn’t get to go inside. I finally made it back for my 25th birthday here in 2025. And wow. The grounds are super neat but the art galleries are breathtaking in their own right too. Nice collections that are bright and well-described. Lots of furniture and statues too. The buildings themselves are, from the perspective of someone that used to study architecture, stunning. You have to see them to fully appreciate it. Also the gardens are lovely too. The whole museum is very wheelchair assessable.

5 /5 Kevin Wang: Amazing world-class art museum that’s a must-visit when in LA. The Getty is also free (but does require timed ticket reservations)! Some things I love about the Getty over other museums is they have guided tours every thirty minutes across a variety of topics. From the buildings architecture to the outdoor gardens to the impressionists to the temporary exhibits, there’s a tour for everyone. The guides are extremely knowledgeable and you learn something new every time. The impressive artwork collection is housed in three separate buildings, which have outdoor walkways all with gorgeous views of the LA surroundings from mountains to the ocean.
