5 /5 D Atch: This park offers something for everyone. 2 playground areas for small and larger children. A lovely loop walking path and a connection to the Redwoods and a boardwalk to walk on. This is one of my Mom’s favorite spots, which we take her often. If you like nature and have children too, there is so much to do in the hidden gem in the neighborhood.

5 /5 Steve Kelem: Beautiful small park. Theres a path to Redwood Grove, so you get 2 parks! The stream is flowing strong after the rains! There are a couple of play structures for kids. Its dog friendly. Restrooms, and rec center for events.

Benches and areas for picnics with barbecue grills and stroller friendly. Good toilet facilities as well Good free parking.

5 /5 Mini Rag: A perfect destination for parents of small kids. There are two play structures with sand for soft landing. The structure inside is for older kids. There is a huge grass oval, perfect for picnics. On the back right of the park is a statue of a veteran, worth reflecting on. If your kids are older, take the across the road to the redwood Grove to see some truly magnificent trees.

Monte Bello Open Space Preserve - Los Altos

Zsuzsanna Sziveri: Nice trails with plenty of sunshine and also a lot of wooded areas. I loved the moss covered trees. Free to visit, bathroom at the parking lot, no running water, but hand sanitizer is available.

Hoover Tower - Stanford

Oxana Orlova: Great way to see the Stanford University campus! The elevator takes you 285 feet up to the observation deck with absolutely stunning views. My guide was very friendly and knowledgeable, I especially enjoyed the story about Lou Henry, Stanford’s first female graduate in 1898, who later married fellow alum Herbert Hoover, the 31st President of the United States.

High Meadow Vista Point - Los Altos

SK HD: High Meadow Vista Point is a great little reward tucked along the loop trails at Rancho San Antonio, especially when doing the High Meadow Loop via Lower Meadow Trail. While it’s not the kind of destination I’d plan an entire hike around, it definitely earns its spot as a solid 4-star rest stop. The views from the top are lovely — you get a clear, wide-angle look at the South Bay and surrounding hills, and on a clear day, you can even spot downtown San Jose in the distance. It’s a peaceful place to catch your breath, enjoy a snack, and take in the scenery before continuing on your loop. The gradual incline to reach the vista point adds a bit of a challenge, but nothing too strenuous. It’s well worth including in your hike, especially if you’re connecting it with Deer Hollow Farm or coming back down via the scenic and shaded Canyon Trail. Overall, it’s a great midpoint or rest stop during your hike — not quite a standalone destination, but definitely a nice highlight along the way.

Hanna House - Stanford

Kenneth Lui: Magnificent work by Frank Lloyd Wright! Our tour was led by an experienced docent who was very knowledgeable, friendly and patient with all questions asked. There were lots of interesting facts covered about the design, construction and interactions between the Hanna Family and Frank Lloyd Wright. The house is well preserved and maintained. Grounds are meticulously kept. It is amazing that such a tour is even made available to the public, albeit in very limited capacity. Id suggest booking early online. Highly recommended especially for the architecturally inclined, and a must for Frank Lloyd Wright fans. Truly a treasure!

El Presidio de Santa Bárbara State Historic Park - Santa Barbara

Dale Rhodes: Its a work in progress. Some interesting bits. There just isnt a lot to this place so it is a fairly quick tourist stop. Parking is street or paid commercial lots. There are restuarant options within a block of the entrance.

Santa Barbara Museum Of Art - Santa Barbara

Alias Incognito: The classic, fine art is lacking...3 Monet, and a Chagall...IMHO: WAY too much contemporary and modern "art." The main exhibit was interesting but just didnt speak to me.

Santa Barbara Botanic Garden - Santa Barbara

Rebecca D: This place is Disneyland for nature lovers! During our recent trip to Santa Barbara, we decided to stop by for a couple hours. This easily turned into 4 hours and we only left because they closed! Could have spent all day here. The grounds are absolutely beautiful with highlights being the redwoods area, back country area, new hiking trail, conservatory area where you can learn about the plants on all the channel islands, and the views. Its worth a trip just for the stunning views of Santa Barbara and the surrounding area. When you walk in the view with the mountains in the background and the meadow is simply breathtaking. The staff here was super welcoming and gave us an awesome verbal overview of the map which made exploring the grounds a little easier. This was probably the best $20 for entertainment Ive spent in a while and the money goes to plant conservation efforts, whats not to love!
