1 /5 Elizabeth Macias: Went in to get my roots touched up with Layla. My natural hair had grown out about 3-4 inches (see first image). The color I wanted to match is blonde highlights with a subtle brown-reddish base (hair dye not color lift) as shown in the first picture attached. By the end of the 5 hr process, my hair roots did not matched the rest of my hair. Instead, the highlights and ends were darkened. There was no base color applied to the roots, my natural hair was used as base - see 3 middle pictures below.
I asked if I could get a refund, the salon said they would correct the error before moving to a refund.
I went back a week later. The stylist, Layla, along with another stylist, Gina, lifted all of the color from my hair - base and highlight. The outcome was a vertically uniform color across my hair, but it was no longer the hair I started with. Instead, I have a stronger red base giving an overall copper effect (see last 3 images).
After finishing, they commented something along the lines of, "see, now the roots match the ends". This might be true, but only a part of the request.
Total for hair coloring was around $500.
