5 /5 D: People were very kind when I came here. I actually came for my eye prescription and did not have any glasses at the time. I was lost because I couldn’t see (everything was basically a blur and it was a miracle I found the building at all), and a staff member was kind enough to show me the way to the eye doctor, which I wouldn’t have found without her seeing as I couldn’t read half the signs..
The eye doctor herself was very nice, friendly, and likeable. I think she misunderstood my lack of eye contact as me not liking her. No, I’m just a survivor of childhood abuse. I wasn’t allowed to make eye contact with my mother or she would slap me. I have learned to associate eye contact with pain.
(My mother didn’t want to see the hurt in my eyes when she abused me. She wanted me to just stand there and stoically be her punching bag)
