5 /5 Leah Socorro Cayanan: Our Sunday was so busy with the relocation, I together with husband and brother found ourselves able to go to Mass later in the day. The only church that has Mass at late afternoon is Holy Redeemer. It is a blessing to have celebrated Eucharist here because it has such a welcoming, open-hearted church environment. Their bulletin says “The parish offers a spiritual home for senior citizens and youth, single people and families; those who are straight, gay, lesbian, and transgender; the healthy and the sick, particularly persons with HIV.”
The priest Fr Matt himself has that loving, welcoming presence in him. Choir music is so beautiful; I found myself at one point feeling lifted up to the heavens. On my way out, the male usher in orange sweatshirt gave me a huge smile and we had a brief yet lively conversation. I would say it is not by accident that I had my Eucharistic celebration here on my first Sunday in San Francisco. God’s love is surely evident in His Most Holy Redeemer Church.
