Alice Keck Park Memorial Garden - Santa Barbara Lori: This is such a beautiful park. It’s small, but it has so many different types of wildflowers and trees. There’s even a pond with lots of mallard ducks, and some turtles. There’s a gazebo and several park benches for you to rest. Across the street is an enclosed playground for children. It’s quite large and clean.
Chase Palm Park - Santa Barbara Richard Ward: What a perfect spot to relax, stroll, fly a kite, read a book or just be with nature. The sound of the waves, the expansive grass area with so much green, and of course...the people watching. First thing we did after arriving in town, was to stroll along this path and take in the sights and sounds while loosening up our joints!
Susan Quinlan Doll & Teddy Bear Museum & Library - Santa Barbara Krista Rhodes: We emailed Susan so we could go on a Tuesday. It was super easy and she was lovely and knowledgeable about the history of the food. We had the museum to ourselves and were shocked how many rooms there were. Several of the dolls sparked really good conversations with my children.
Franceschi Park - Santa Barbara Ray K: Easy to access by car - less than 10 minutes from downtown Santa Barbara. Parking lot + bathrooms available. Not the highest vista in SB, but stunning nonetheless. The history of the Franceschi House and surrounding foliage is quite interesting!

Point Castillo - Santa Barbara Kaya: Such a peaceful little island like - feel. My husband enjoyed it. Do be careful approaching the ocean though, youll be able to see the sandy water closer to the shore and then deeper blue a bit farther out. The water is quite deep there and drop is significant.
Arroyo Burro Beach County Park - Santa Barbara Betty Jo Keenan: We came at -1 low tide today. It was great to walk among all the rocks if a little hard on our tender feet. There are many nooks and crannies where the water pools and you can see the tidal animals. The parking is limited, but weve always been able to get a spot as long as its not peak hours and were patient. An excellent restaurant is on-site here. There is an off-leash dog area too, so theres lots of options for things to do at this beach.
Eat This Shoot That! - Santa Barbara shireetha gethers: If youre doing a food tour and youre walking through the city, you should definitely have some hands sanitizer or have spots along the way, picked out to be regularly washing your hands. You also should refrain from touching peoples plates and cups as you discuss and show them the food items. I understand its a food tour, but especially when you dont have clean hands, its highly unsanitary!
Its also a good idea to not greet dogs and let them lick all over you ... your hands.... your arms AND your face while youre interacting with people who are eating food, bringing them food from the restaurant & leading a tour.
Its a good idea to give people space after you give them the information about the tour and the food and the art and let them socialize with the people that they came with. We should not have experience the person who is giving the tour or learning how to give a tourist next to you constantly asking you questions about what youre eating, what youre trying, where youre from or other questions that are really irrelevant .. it is pretty annoying & doesnt allow you to enjoy the experience fully.
Its not a good idea to take shortcuts, because its easier for you as the tour guide. One of our group members ate meat. The other 2 are vegetarians, but to keep it simple or make it easier. She was repeatedly offered vegetarian options and not given the opportunity to try the meat options along the tour. This was frustrating as you were very clear when setting up the tour, what the food restrictions were, we reminded them again when we got to the beginning of the tour and also reminded along the tour. How often will we need to say it in order to get the full experience.
Although the tour guide and her trainee were very nice & social, it is not likely not an experience well do again.
