My friend and I lucked out in finding a way in to see some beautiful graffiti. But they may likely tighten security as there was even an one-person patrol on a holiday that I went.

Thanks to Oaklands Public Art Program, Cultural Arts Division for its support of the original 2 months of weekends long offering in 1991 (!) and the Oakland Theater Project anniversary production remix for 3 long weekends at the same site, with advanced projection technologies 30 years later, in 2021. Thanks to the original soundtrack designers in 1991, who made the story come alive, the remix sound designer and the performance artist in 2021 who made it breathe again. Looks like the building is under renovation! Bueno. It was a grand station in its day (before the Jack London version existed). Lets see what grand visions it will evoke in a new life...

B Jeff (Jeffery): Most of our adventures are so amazing here in the Bay Area, so my four star shouldnt be of much concern. This little gem is hard to find, in fact you think you Re turning into an apartment complex. You start the trail in a gully with a swamp that is pretty gross, however it gets better from there. Thus is no Tilden Park, but you will have some fun.

Roberts Regional Recreation Area - Oakland

ne maez: Really nice park. Big, fun playground with lots of features for older and small kids. Swings, slides, climbing. Large grass area with bbq pits. Clean flush toilets. Nice walking trails all around with bbq pits and picnic tables. The swimming pool in the same parking lot is only $3 for kids and $5 for adults.

Doug Siden Visitor Center at Crab Cove - Alameda

Kathleen Valerio: This is a nice low key place to pop in for something a little different when youre near the beach. They have a couple tanks with a fish and a shark. They also have some fun interactive stuff like a microscope to look through, a ships wheel to turn, some bins with coloring supplies and books. Best of all its free.

Lake Chabot Regional Park - Castro Valley

Tothetrailsandbeyond: Lake Chabot is beautiful! We enjoyed our hike on the trail around the lake. Only $5 to park, bummed there were no in and out privileges though. It would have been nice to go back this afternoon. I had a great cappuccino at the Cafe. The server was very sweet and engaging. So refreshing these days! We also saw a nesting part of bald eagles with babies! Spectacular! We want to go back this week and rent a pontoon boat to drive around the lake. It would be a blast.

Cassidy Williams: This is one of my favorite local parks to visit. It is beautiful with many places to settle in for a nice picnic or hanging out. It is never too crowded and the people that go there tend to be friendly. There is a playground for young children as well with a public restroom that is pretty clean. This park also leads into hiking trails which is beautiful. The whole park is dog friendly too, but they need to be on leash. I highly recommend a visit!

Alameda Creek Regional Trail - Isherwood Staging Area - Oakland

alejandra corbella: A beautiful space to have a picnic, hike, kayak or go to the beach. Most people don’t know if this hidden gem in the Bay Area but their hiking trails are scenic. I came here last week and it looks like the beach has been closed to the public. To get in each car pays $5 plus an extra fee if you are fishing or bringing a pet

Cesar Chavez Park - Berkeley

Andrew Dowd: Absolutely one of the Crown Jewels of the bay - almost literally. Climb over sweeping hills to see the water of the bay unfurl around you, with the city and the GG bridge in the distance. I go here for my dog - I believe it is the largest open leash acreage in the Bay Area. Yes, perhaps it used it be a dump. It’s now lovely, and feels so freeing to tromp through. Great dogs go here, I never worry about who we’ll encounter. The wind can be very strong, so bring a windbreaker. The other perk, of course, are the kite flyers.
