Three Ladies Cafe - Davis (CA)

3 /5 Lisa Schultz: First, the interior looks NOTHING like the posted photos. That threw us so much we almost didnt recognize the place well enough to go in. But we figured it out from the Maps location and did go in cuz we were starving and it was pouring. Food: Kinda down-home but excellent tasting food, including a whole separate vegetarian menu, which is impressive. No particular attempt to plate it in a pretty or artistic way. Service: walk in, no greeting tho not busy, order at counter (you can grab a table and menu yourself before ordering), pay first, then wait for it to be made to oder, then eat. No check-in to see if things are OK or you have questions or need anything. So basically, almost no service to speak of. Atmosphere: "Makeshift eating area in a gas station by a scenic highway" vibe. I really do not know where those other photos could be from, but it isnt where they are now. Overall value (actual food plus experience): Meh. And I think in Davis, you have to do better than Meh.

1 /5 Aileen McGoldrick: I ordered a harvest bowl with tofu, which was a seasonal special and it was very healthy and quite good. But what was horrible is my hot food was served in a PLASTIC container! So now my healthy lunch was swimming in micro plastics. I immediately asked for a different container and the nice young lady said they dont use the eco friendly paper containers because they might leak - well guess what - they dont, my food was totally fine and showed no signs of any leaking. If your going to market yourself as healthy do not use plastic containers which are well known to leach. Even if they say they are food safe, hot plastic is never a good idea for your health or environment. PLEASE get rid of these toxic containers, especially since you offer a better option. 1 star for ruining my lunch, which I still ate, but felt like it had been contaminated.

1 /5 House: I am ordered an acai bowl…what is this? It’s so watery and looks like it was already digested. I threw it all away. The green tea with milk and honey tasted like bitter water with no honey or milk. The scones are so oily as if they are fried. Only good thing was the goddess smoothie. Never again will I lose my money to this place. THIS ITEM WAS THIS WAY DUE TO IT BEING MADE THIS WAY NOT DUE TO IT MELTING IN THE CAR! I picked it up and drove three minutes home.

4 /5 Jim Sherman: Super good food, poor service. I mean people were friendly, but Ive never repeat not once had to wait as long as I did for two lattes, and there was no one repeat no one else in line... I guess they like many contemporary grub slingers have the death march of online orders, but those customers are not waiting in the same way. What made the wait particularly intolerable is that this place is in a dead spot for Verizon, so I couldnt do work that I had to do ( and could not do on public wireless). Then why four stars? The food is outstanding... I had the overnight oats and the Ant had the Mex-cali burrito and they were delicious and the golden latte was very delicious, like a holiday in a cup. So there you go

You can really tell everything is made with care — from the sandwiches and salads to their breakfast plates and drinks. It’s the kind of place that instantly brightens your day. The staff is incredibly kind and attentive — they make you feel genuinely welcome the moment you walk in. The service is quick but never rushed, and the atmosphere is clean, cozy, and relaxing. Whether you’re stopping by for a quiet breakfast, lunch with a friend, or a quick coffee break, it always feels peaceful and inviting. Their ingredients taste fresh and high-quality, and the portions are generous without being heavy. It’s perfect for anyone who wants wholesome food that still feels like a treat. Three Ladies Café has become one of my favorite go-to spots in Davis — delicious food, friendly faces, and a calm, local vibe that’s hard to find anywhere else. Highly recommend!
