5 /5 Natalie Caldwell: Il Davide is a perfect Italian gem in the middle of downtown San Rafael. I would absolutely recommend making a reservation, or make sure you get there before 5:45 to ensure you have a table.
The drinks are split - cocktails were great. Weirdly, the wine fell flat and was borderline disappointing.
The food - you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. Don’t fill up too much on the bread they bring, while it’ll be tempting. Highly recommend getting the calamari fritti to start. For entrees, go for the house made pasta; it’s what they’re known for. Capellini del diavolo is delightful and not too spicy. The fettuccine viareggio is decadent and full of flavor. And the chicken parm is like no other. All of our plates would have been licked clean if that was appropriate in public. Of course end with some gelato or sorbet. It’s the perfect way to wrap up the meal.
Great meal. Will be back!
