Koko Valadez This place is awesome and the staff there are just as well. Both my kids have been here and the staff make you feel as if theyre family with how well they get to know your kids. They report all kinds of events your kid has had even down to the funny one liners or a tiff they had with another child who was attending. The owners are awesome and are some of the best people youll ever meet. They genuinely care about your kids and dont see the place as a source of income but as a place to go enjoy working with kids and interacting with each and every little soul there.

Theodore Kacius It was an exhilarating experience to meet Fr. Matthew Spencer, Oblate of St. Joseph, with whom I had become familiar through his work on Relevant Radio. I found friendly people after a morning mass there while on vacation in Santa Cruz who were very helpful with suggesting a local State Park to visit as well as just being available to me for some time that we could share our love of Jesus and His church with one another. The secretary in the office made herself available to me for conversation and I was very able to enjoy time for prayer and reflection in the chapel. I also enjoyed the coffee shop and the outdoor seating and garden area. Beautiful place to sit and reflect on ones life journey and the possible paths forward from here, hearing the Santa Cruz ocean waves rolling in to the shoreline just across the street.

Edward Wood I tried this church, and it wasnt 7th Day Adventist. It was some weird denomination. The speaker gave a highly unmotivating speech about other Christians who say theyre Christian, but theyre really not, and "it was like people who wear rock star shirts, yet when you ask them to name five of that bands songs off the top of their head they cant even do it. "Other Christians suck, were great... whatever we are. Not the Christian message I was looking for.

Alistair Norris I started going to this Church when I moved into the area in 2012. It is one of the warmest and friendliest churches I have ever been too. Pastor Tom is a very related person who is passionate about the Bible and evangelism. It probably doesnt hurt my attendance that all the meals are vegetarian with many vegan and gluten free options. I dont have any kids, but this past weekend a first time guest told me that their kids loved the program, and they are planning on switching their membership here. My only knock if you dont read the bulletin you can miss out on various small groups, health events, etc. so make sure to ask a question or else or you might miss out.

Sharon Zwierzynski I love faith community! The church family are so genuine, kind and caring. Especially In times like these, it’s good to know we have people who will reach out beyond our four walls and into our community to help support others who maybe struggling. Church used to be a place of judgement but not at faith community, we can each find a sense of belonging and real acceptance.

Mark Bernbeck I was hesitant to go back to a church after previous bad experiences at different churches. When I started going to Inner Light, I realized that I wasnt being preached to as much as I was given tools for living a harmonious and meaningful life. Reverend Deborah Johnson taught me life skills that I was waiting for my whole life. The people who attend are also so genuine and caring. Anyone can benefit from their philosophies.

Len of Santa Cruz An independent church in the New Thought tradition, very welcoming, great music, friendly people. Their mission statement says they provide "tools for living that encourage the practical application of Universal Spiritual Principles to all of life’s circumstances. Our aim is healing through the energy of love..." and they "honor all paths that lead to truth." They give a lot back to the community - its people who really walk their talk. And its not at all cult-y, none of that "join us, join us" feeling. In fact, they dont even offer memberships. If youre looking for a community that has a message that is both inclusive and passionate, that stands on a strong spiritual foundation, this one is worth checking out.

Fabrice Nye It is rare for me to make it down to Soquel on a Sunday morning, but when I do, I never want to miss a service at ILM. You can form an opinion for yourself by visiting their website and checking out one of their recorded Sunday services. I would describe it as an independent, ecumenical, New Thought church with a gospel flair. The church leadership is mostly black, while the congregation is mostly white. They accept everyone, of course, and there are lots of LGBT people in the congregation. But it doesnt seem to have much of a multicultural appeal. NOTE: They are planning to move to a new place by January 2020. Beware if the address of this entry is still 5630 Soquel Road after that date.
