In-Shape Fitness - Salinas Dana Nguyen: I’ve been a loyal member of In-Shape for almost a decade, but I recently relocated to Salinas and started visiting this location in mid-2024. While I appreciate the spacious workout environment, I’ve noticed a decline in the gym’s overall quality.
One significant issue, as mentioned by another reviewer, is the cleaning standards. They replaced the rags we used to spray disinfectant with small wipes, but these wipes are often out of stock. Consequently, many machines remain unwashed, which is a major concern for maintaining hygiene. I rarely get sick, but I’m currently writing this review sick on my couch, upset since I haven’t interacted with any sick kids or other people. I just work out, get fit, go to work, and be at home.
Another issue is the inconsistency in cleanliness of the bathrooms. While some days they are clean, they are often not, which is a fundamental aspect of any gym environment.
I hope things improve, but for now, meh.
Planet Fitness - Salinas Brian Navarro: Planet Fitness at Northridge Mall is a really well-kept and welcoming gym. The place is always clean — I often see staff actively tidying up and sanitizing equipment, which is great to see. The team here is also very helpful and quick to answer questions.
While most of the machines are cardio-focused, the selection of weight machines is still solid and covers the essentials. Overall, it’s a great gym with a friendly vibe and a clean, comfortable environment to get a good workout in!
