At 10:04am Pam came to the lobby to let me know that Chris is out sick for the day. Why would no one think to call me to reschedule? I rearranged my entire day around this appointment. This is inconsiderate of other peoples time and unprofessional.

    Danielle Fischer: There are law firms, many of them to choose from. But there are few law firms that do not make you feel like just another case. Going through a divorce is messy. Going through a divorce with a child can be even messier. Thank goodness for Mike Peterson who makes the hardest times a little bit more digestible. He is direct, brings the facts, educates you, and does not encourage you to make moves just to make a dollar - refreshing when you just want the best path forward for all involved. He wants your next steps to be the right ones. I also cannot discount Brandie, his paralegal. I have cried reading her words of encouragement when I just needed to feel validated, and always responsive. A dynamic duo they are and while I do not wish divorce on or for anyone, if you are going through a challenging time, trust them. I am so glad they are on my team.

    Eric Erickson: I would highly NOT recommend this attorney. He does not listen to your side of the story and makes up his mind before hearing all sides of the argument. I picked him because his reviews say he tells it like it is and not what you want to hear. He tells it like he thinks it is before hearing all the facts and circumstances. for example, He read the copy of the restraining order that i was issued and told me basically I was guilty and we will try to reduce the sentence. Did not offer one glimmer of hope that I had any chance of succending. He is also very argumentative and stubborn. In my retaining letter he had several important facts incorrect and said it didi not say that. Once i told him i wont be retaining him he writes back about how those were minor proof reading errors and I was blowing it out of proportion. To top it all off he emails me the night before my hearing and this is what the email says....."Thank you for NOT retaining me" This was after four or five days of no communicaton. That shows how unprofessional he is. He may be a decent lawyer, IDK, But i was paying him to represent me and I said i want to fight it. So based on his argumentative stubborn personality alone he was not a match for me. Maybe he has done well in the past , IDK, But he told me pretty much you are guilty and wanted to start negotiating a lessor penalty before he listens to me. Well guess what? my case was dismissed. He totally did not listen to how concerrned I was to have a domestic violence restraining order out against me. No big deal you are retired he said , It is an epic big deal to me to have that on my record when in fact I was the one being abused. Again, it ideeply disturb me to have that on my record, It affects you the rest of your life. Thank god we did not start with trying to get a lessor sentence. Maybe he is succeful sometimes, But that was not my experience. He was argumentative about everything, He gave me bad advice and I am out $500. Had I not fired him it could have been a lot worse. I do not recommend this person and would not hire him for any serious legal matter. Eric E

    James Plant: I have been fortunate that I have not needed much legal advice in my life, so I have no basis for comparison really. Estate planning is a little weird - we dont really want to think about our own demise. I will say this though, as tedious, and weird as estate planning may be, it is an essential part of good financial planning. We made an appointment for an initial consultation and met with Joseph, an attorney in their office. We certainly got an education! Joseph has a remarkable ability to summarize the complexities of probate law into terminology that we could understand, and he explained things in a very practical manner which removed the weirdness of estate planning. By the end of that first meeting, we were very comfortable working with the firm, and Joseph. Over subsequent weeks, there were questions going backwards and forwards - any questions we had, were answered very promptly. The result was, a very detailed plan that we are extremely happy with, and now that it is done, the weirdness has been replaced with a huge weight being lifted from our shoulders, and for that, I would like to thank the team at Desert Law Group, and in particular, Joseph, for the advice, professionalism and attention to detail.
