UNIFY Financial Credit Union - Oakland Llew Keller: I got a car loan thru WFCU because they bought out my local credit union for the city of Oakland, CA. WFCU gets my lowest possible rating. First, they made a mistake with my loan account - charging me twice in one month. Second, they keep overdrawing my checking account which I had to open to get the car loan and I dont use. Its because they attached "insurance" and hidden fees they didnt inform me about. I just called them to straighten this out for the THIRD time, and was told I would have to call a toll free number to cancel the "insurance." I called the number, which is "currently unavailable, and the internet chat person told me that was the only number they had.
Common wisdom is that credit unions and small banks give superior customer service. Ive banked at huge Wells Fargo for 30 years. They hardly ever make mistakes, and when they do, they fix it the FIRST time with a courteous attitude. Once my car loan is paid off, I will NOT be doing business with WFCU again...ever.
