1 /5 Daniel Vazquez Guevara: Never in my personal financial experience have any loan company inquire so much about you to the point of making you feel extremely uncomfortable. I followed the instructions prompted by the application: linked my bank account, provided income evidence for the last 12 months, sent government ID, stated loan intent, and signed all pre-disclosures. I selected the phone interview date and time, but I never received the call when they promised. I end up calling my assigned branch few hours after the schedule time, and the representative just told me to just wait as the do not follow the schedule. When I finally got to speak, the representative started to ask irrelevant questions regarding my assets. The loan I applied for was unsecured, thus I did not see the need to ask for those. She said they could not move forward if I did not comply, so I did. During the call, I asked regarding my loan application APR and fees, and she offered me a ridiculously high APR very different to the one I had been pre-approved for. After explaining myself she magically matched promised rate. If my pre-approved rate was good already, why did she offered a higher rate in the first place? Is this a scam? Also, she said I would be charged a financial fee but she was unable to tell me the fee amount. How do they think customer will proceed if I they dont know the financing cost? After 30 min on the phone she said she could not confirm my information and asked me to go for a in-person interview to continue with the application, which I denied.
After all this inconsistencies and painstaking process, I decided not to move forward and requested canceling my application asap. I found another lender who was able to provide 60% lower APR and zero financing fee compared to OneMain Financial with no phone calls, no interviews, no asset evaluation, with just a fraction of the hassle! I consider to have an excellent credit history and a credit score way above average. It shameful the way OneMain Financial treat future to-be customers. Avoid at all cost.
