  • Elan Health & Fitness Center - San Anselmo
Sara Moss: Love this family run business of sweet women! The environment is warm, prices are affordable, and grateful for the easy parking. I joined for private strength training and it’s one of my favorite parts of the week - my trainer Taylor is wonderful with modifications and makes the whole experience fun. Highly recommend personal training here!! The gym has everything you need. Thanks, Elan team!
    Pure Barre - San Rafael
Jessamyn Hise: I started taking classes through ClassPass and quickly got hooked! So much so that I upgraded to an unlimited membership. The workouts are consistently challenging, and just when I feel like I cant go any further, the movement changes. That pace really works for me—I have a short attention span with exercise and need a steady stream of new moves to stay engaged. Over the past four months of coming regularly, I’ve felt myself grow stronger and more confident in my body. And yet… the classes never seem to get easier! I’m not sure what kind of voodoo that is, but I’ll keep showing up regardless. I’d recommend this studio to anyone who wants to explore what their body is truly capable of. And finally, a huge shoutout to the instructors and fellow members for creating such a warm, welcoming, and down-to-earth atmosphere. It’s a truly unpretentious and supportive space and I’m so grateful for that.
    Five Points Fitness - Novato
Jacob Nunez: Gym is a little outdated but they try to add a variety of equipment. It is particularly small and youll notice early morning and evenings. They only have one of everything (squat rack, leg press) so it can be a wait during peak hours. I spent a year at the gym and never appreciated the customer service from the manager. She comes off as unnecessarily aggressive. I understand the need to be firm when someone is dropping weights, had their mask down, or an issue with their membership... But how you speak to people goes a long way. I decided not to rejoin for these reasons. Thank you to the front desk workers who were always kind, knew your name and helpful.
Osher Marin JCC - San Rafael
Susan Arati: This is more than just a gym, the people are amazing - staff, trainers, and members. Really welcoming. Facilitaties are clean and updated. The outdoor pool is the perfect temp for lap swimming, indoor pool is warm and inviting, therapeutic. Sauna and steam, even spa and massage.
    Anytime Fitness - Sausalito
Stefan Lowenstein: Awesome gym. Members are respectful. The owner clearly takes pride in running a clean, well-maintained, secure gym. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a work out facility in Southern Marin.
Gym World Gymnastics Academy - San Rafael
Jessica Penrod: My son attending "ninja" camp, his fond description of camp. He came home full of excitement and joy to go back each day. I highly recommend the Gym World for camp or regular sessions. Instructors were enthusiastic and took care to ensure safety and fun were balanced.
    Vitality Code - San Anselmo
L Kat: Cannot recommend this place enough. FIRST thing that sets it apart: its clean, doesnt smell(!!), has great filtered water. SECOND: its not just a "looks nice in marketing" gym (like some others disappointingly are), its legit welcoming, equipment is kept in excellent shape, and the trainers, owners and many members actually live the call to wellness. Speaking of equipment, they have everything. As of June 2025 -- 2 proper squat racks, 1 smith machine, many quality and great condition barbells, space for deadlifting/stretching/floorwork, maces, ropes, pulleys, dumbbells galore, wooden rings, belt, barbell pads, chain, trx, assault bikes, pelaton, treadmills, rowers, peg board, and a bunch of machines that I dont know how to name. The cold plunge, TWO very nice saunas, grounding mats, red light therapy are all kept in top shape. I had to rehab my back for several months, and pretty much every tool my chiro/PT said I should get, Vitality Code had it: theragun, vibrating roller ball, mobility balls, bands, slant boards. THIRD: This is a gym thats run how all gyms should be run!! There are no bogus fees, its upfront what you see is what you get. Cancellation policy is simple. You do not get the vibe that they are trying to dive into your wallet, which alone sets this gym head and shoulders above others, and makes you feel like a person they care about rather just a dollar sign. The extra hours where you can badge in make the membership so worthwhile. You can pop in to just unwind and stretch or you can come in for a hard workout even outside of opening times. Further this gym somehow attracts people who are serious about fitness but mostly not obnoxious. There are old and young, women and men, people who are new to lifting and those who are experts. It feels awesome to be part of a gym where you dont feel watched, judged, or worse, ogled, by other people and youre just supported by the environment to get after it. The owners are also awesome. Youll get it once you join. They are so respectful, down-to-earth, and genuinely welcoming to everyone irrespective of shape, size, age, expertise. TLDR: I wish every gym was like this. I travel and have lived in a lot of places. Have been a member of maybe 20 gyms in all different cities and a few different countries. Vitality Code has set the bar high for every gym I will now come across (and is the best of all the ones Ive ever been to). Not sure it can be replicated though, thanks to the atmosphere quietly set by the owners and trainers, and the care for the place by the owners. If you live around Vitality Code, you dont know how lucky you are.
    BodyVibe Studio - San Rafael
Queen M: Highly recommend!! Victors class on Mondays is the best!!! Great workout, awesome music and great group! I look forward to going back!!!
Five Points Fitness - Corte Madera
Damon McClain: Love this gym! First gym I’ve ever joined and was very skeptical that I would like it and stick with it. But it’s been two years now and going strong. The staff and patrons are great and there’s a good sense of community.
    Orangetheory Fitness - Greenbrae
Natsuyo N: I came to Orangetheory Greenbrae after doing kickboxing, looking for a workout that mixed high and low intensity while still keeping things fun with great music. Orangetheory delivered on all of that. I tried the first free class and was immediately hooked that I signed up right after. The coaching team here is genuinely fantastic. They’re upbeat, knowledgeable, and always ready to help me correct my form without making me feel self conscious. My main goal has been to build strength, and after about four months I’ve noticed a real difference in my energy levels and overall stamina. Every class feels purposeful, and the constant rotation of exercises keeps things fresh. I love walking out feeling sore in new places, knowing I’m challenging different muscle groups each time. The studio itself is clean, well organized, and has a great atmosphere. The staff greets you by name, the technology makes it easy to track progress, and the playlists keep the classes moving. Highly recommend this location to anyone looking for structure, variety, and a truly supportive environment to get stronger and feel better.
