1 /5 Bo Yang: They will charge you even if you do not renew with them. I had my home insurance with them for a couple year, before they increased the premium by over 30% in 2024, so I decided not to renew with them. To my astonishment, they still charge me for the policy I do not want to renew (yes, I emailed them to let them know that I am not renewing with that high premium), and now they are trying to make me pay by using collection service. Please keep this in mind.

I had many insurance policies expired in the past and I never experienced this. It is the law that you shall not charge a service you have not provided, and your just did. Further, the renewal notice I have received clearly stated to "offer continued coverage for you contingent upon payment toward the premium as stated below." Isnt "contingent" means that if I do not pay, the coverage would not continue?

I did email and let them know that "... with large premium increase in the past a couple years, I am considering a change." I am clearly indicating that I am walking away with that high premium, and the response I got "I am able to let you know that Farmers is not an organization that will lower their rates because you found a cheaper option elsewhere." My reading to this is, "go with the cheaper option, I dont care about your business".

Wow, now you admit the policy got cancelled? But on a different date than my policy expiration date? Isnt you just said it is the law that you cannot cancel it? And any evidence I was still insured during the period?
