1 /5 Clarissa Govea: They play favorites here. My son stopped wanting to go so I dont force him to go & now im just wasting money. They really get you with their year contracts with no way out so theres that. But the lady always working in the front (i forget her name but its the older one not the younger one) well my 2yr old had asked for a candy & she said they were all out so he had a metldown bc he got in the habit of always receiving a candy from them. Well tell me why when i was carrying him into the car crying i saw a few kids walk out with candy in their hands. They noticed us since he was having a huge fit & I mentioned how she just said they had no more, the boys were sweet enough to give my 2yr old one of their lollipops. I would have went back to confront her for lying but i honestly just didnt have the energy in this bakersfield heat. Thats just scandalous to lie

1 /5 Blake Reece: Called in to get information for my son to join. I get that they have a 2 week $29 special but I also want price transparency. I want to know how much it is a contract. I want to know how much does the 3/6 month contract cost. But no. I don’t see how they can justify how they operate talking about prices and the sign up cost. I don’t want to wait two weeks to see if I like what they offer for them to tell me prices. It seems like they want to try to hook and bait you. I’d rather not. Be up front and transparent with everything and prices. It was a lady on the phone. I didn’t catch her name. Now I feel like it’s very sketchy and dishonest. I will be calling somewhere else.

1 /5 R r: They dont honor their own payment agreement witch is written on paper. Went to cancel over the phone and the owner got upset and said I have to pay the full amount. When the paper work clearly said you can cancel after paying 70 percent of what is owed. He is clearly unprofessional and shady. Never going hear again. Thou the employees are amazing. Mangemnt clearly needs a over haul.

5 /5 B Coulter: Ive done walking, running, treadmill, lifting, zumba, etc. Those were all boring and repetitious after the first couple of times. But THIS (!!!!!) is an amazing place. Ive joined for the Muay Thai classes and i absolutely love coming every chance i get. With Muay Thai, you use the 8 points (knees, elbows, hands and feet) so the variety in the classes is perfect. The instructors are awesome because they always have the patience and want you to get better. This is a place where being aggressive is a positive thing and I have never felt more at home. It is a wee bit pricey but its so worth it. I wake up the next morning and feel sore (woo!) and i look forward to going the next class. Its worth the investment in yourself if you want to get in shape, lose weight, let off steam, learn some technique/discipline or start something that you can stick with for a long time.

CD went above and beyond to welcome us, even inviting us to try our first Reformer Pilates class since it’s not offered at our home gym. He recommended Liz’s class — and we’re so glad he did. Liz was warm, patient, and incredibly encouraging, making our first class unforgettable. We loved it so much we came back for a second session before leaving LA. Huge thanks to CD and Liz for making our visit such a highlight. Highly recommend this location to anyone visiting!

Kat Demaline: Pros: The equipment is high quality, the gym culture is positive, there are plenty of lockers, the staff is approachable and the environment feels safe with minimal creepers. Thanks to a recent renovation, the equipment is some of the best Ive used. Cons: The equipment is often dirty since the gym doesnt provide wipes (they have paper towels and spray but the extra effort turns people off). Youll need to bring your own clips for lifting and the parking validation system can be a bit of a hassle.

Jill Baxter: Read the fine print: they charge a mandatory fee of $40.67 per day for use of the facilities, whether you use them or not. This is on top of the room rate and other fees that are quoted up front, and you wont see this charge until you check out and then hand you the "folio" with this extra charge. I was on a business trip and work out in the evenings. Because they lock up everything at 9pm (5pm on Sunday), I couldnt even get a random treadmill or elliptical to use once I was done with work. I used none of their facilities, and was still charged the $40 per day mandatory fee which was buried in the fine print and I never saw prior to checking out.

I have a handful of instructors that I typically stick with but every once in a while, my schedule requires me to try out someone new. Last night, I took Colette‘s class for the first time. And damn! What fun! Her style is different from anything I’ve experienced from other instructors at Hype. So glad I mixed it up. I’m a fan, Colette!

Anndrelle Butler: I’m writing this review out of concern and disappointment about the treatment my child has received at the YMCA childcare. My child is often the only African American child there, and there is a particular staff member who repeatedly mishandles interactions with him. Rather than gently redirecting him, she often just takes things away or isolates him from the group. Today, I arrived to find my child crying alone for 30 out of the 50 minutes that he had been there, with no one comforting him. I actually had to step in myself, console him, and show the staff member how to gently guide him back to an activity. She was surprised at how well he responded just with a bit of kindness and patience. I hope the YMCA will address this and train their staff to treat young children with the care, empathy they deserve and not traumatize preschoolers.

PuffDxsh: I just left this hole and went across the street to 24 hr fitness where arc light theatre is and I just got a BOGO buy one year get one free for a little over $300. I don’t care how much money you have… But to be spending every month what I just spent for 2 years is wild. I won’t have a gym payment for 2 years. That’s insane. Anyways parking is endless and they have steam and sauna there. So yeah. You’re welcome. Equinox I hate to break it to you. Your days are coming to an End. Work smarter. NOT harder. BUT if you are, at least choose your hard.

ESTLR Crossfit - Los Angeles

Geovanny Cortez: Been training here for the past 6 months, I honestly can say I am in the best shape of my life thanks to my trainer/ coach Luis , I have lost 42 lbs and can lift more weight than ever before. My mile time went from 9 minutes to just below 7 min mile. It is a great open space with tons of free weights. I highly recommend you give them a try. Awesome community of people everyone is welcoming and supportive. It really is the best part of my day. They also have a nice outdoor workout area too.

Peter Le: Honestly, they really care about your goals and are willing to help you achieve it. I was at a low point in my life with my mental and physical health. Working out with Karl has helped me rediscover the joys of fitness and has given me so much more. He really gets down to the basics of how your body works and moves and implements workouts on strengthening your weak points without overdoing it. It is not a fast process but as you go consistently you’ll definitely see the improvements in your fitness and mobility. Definitely would recommend anyone to train here.
